I misplaced the keys to the side entrance door of our home.  Technically, it's more of an exit to the side yard ... hence why I hadn't noticed that I'd lost the keys.  But rather than calling a locksmith to pick/bump the lock and rekey it, I splurged on one of those new fangled fingerprint scanni...

The Agreement gives the Buyers the right to an additional inspection prior to closing given sufficient notice.  Now, here's the twist.  The Buyers inform me that the true purpose of their visit to the property is to place a religous artifact in the home and pray.  I am assured it won't take long....

While housing starts are down across the nation, the GTA, and Peel Region, Brampton city staff are reporting 32% and 11% increases, for the first 6 months and first 10 months of the year (vs the same period last year), respectively. City staff are forecasting the housing starts number to drop to ...

I frequently drive by a couple of houses in an otherwise desirable Brampton subdivision that have been on the market for ages.  It's a nice area, except for these corner properties which seem to be cursed. One has been on the market, on and off, since Nov '05.  It didn't (still doesn't) show well....

According to RealNet Canada, new home sales in the GTA are still quite healthy, with the price index up 5.1% for low rise projects, and 1.7% for high-rise projects. (June 06 vs June 07) In Brampton, there's quite a bit of inventory, particularly for detached homes in district W24 (east of Highway...

It took nearly two months for a contractor to finish the fence (PT wood) around our property.  The project dragged on and on ... it felt like he was chasing me for money, while I chased him to get the job done, and done right.  Of the many lessons learned -- the belated benefit of 20/20 hindsight...

According to CREA, the average home sale generates an additional $32K in consumer spending: moving, storage, new furniture, appliances, renovations, decorating, landscaping, repairs, etc. The transaction itself involves many professions, such as lawyers, real estate agents, and surveyors. There a...

I had an interesting conversation with a colleague from another brokerage. We were discussing recent transactions in a neighbourhood both MLS and non-MLS. For the latter, I referred to transfers reported with the Land Registry Office. On one property -- which I used as a comp -- the other agent d...
