Here’s where you’ll find a community willing to share their experiences with everything from computers to coaches and
from contact management software to virtual assistants. If there’s a real estate-related product or service, we’ll
have reviews for it.
Consider this patch of ActiveRain real estate your water cooler. Gather around it and talk to you colleagues – get and
offer advice. We hope this will be a forum for both teaching others about what you know and for learning from the rest
of the ActiveRain community.
What products or services work for you? Don’t be shy -- we’d love to hear all about them and spread the word to
help all ActiveRainers move on to the next level in their businesses.
The ABR Designation means the agent has shown excellence in buyer representation. The agent has a history of representing buyers in the real estate transaction and has completed the training to gain skills to represent buyers foremost. ABR® education gives an edge when serving today’s home buyers.

I have been a real estate broker since 1990 and the ABR was the first designation I received and I was surprised I actually learned a lot - but the cool thing is the information and services you receive in addition to the education.
My students are very comfortable with the class, and most have significant great things to say! I advise to use it and explain it in your website! After all "It has their name in the title "Buyer"! This designation is very well supported by NAR and recently updated.
You can go on the NAR website, and see where classes are upcoming, or give me a shout out!

I first took the Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR) in Seattle in the early 90's. It was not a NAR member company at that time, and sub-agency was still the way business was done. It felt odd to me, after spending so much time with my buyers, that I would have to represent the SELLER on the transaction. With several buyers, I just knew to much to really be fair. So I had to disavow sub-agency. This did not go over well with listing brokers (or my broker for that matter) I was rocking the boat, I was not liked by agents. Thank God the the Real Estate Buyers Agency Council had just gotten started. I took their classes, represented buyers well, and received the designation. So if you want to be a fiduciary, that is representing you buyer clients well, there is no finer training in the industry. I am proud to be an Accredited Buyer's Representative!

When I first got this designation it was still relatively new. It was looked at as being very special and the directory was like a small phone book. Now there are tens of thousands of agents that have it and it has been diluted. I have learned so much at the beginning but now most all agents know it. I am considering dropping the designation as it is no longer special and sets me apart from the masses. Why spend the money?

This is one of the first courses I think a new licensee should focus on. While it does have a production (5 transactions) component, the information provided will accelerate reaching that goal. This was one of the first courses I took back in 2003/2004 - and all out team members are encouraged to enroll in this course as well.

The ABR designation is the most valuable one that I have earned to date. Besides the well written education courses, I really like that there is a production component (five buyer transactions) to be awarded the ABR. The elective courses cover a wide range of topics -- second homes, working with the military, new construction and more. The ABR newsletter keeps members current on relevant topics, and there are some great member resources available online.

The ABR designation is a valuable resource. I particularly like the monthly mailer. I frequently pick up ideas that are good future blog post topics for Active Rain. I learned a lot of Buyer Rep ideas in the initial classes taught by Curtus Hall. This is a Learn to Earn Designation worth it's weight in gold.

So it's to no surprise that reading the reviews everyone who has submitted a rating of 5 stars is an ABR. So can you trust these ratings? Yes and here's why...
REBAC actually communicates with their members and the information they provide is timely and useful. I can tell you that without a doubt I am using things taught during the course that helped me secure clients and complete deals.
Also, members pay a yearly fee so if they didn't think it was worth it why would they continue to be members? I know that I'll be renewing my membership for sure.
And finally, I see some very good agents here on ActiveRain that are ABRs. These are people that, through their blogs and posts, I have come to respect. So if they see value it's further proof that I've made the right decision.

I got my ABR several years ago when it was rather new designation. Since that time I have referred to the principles and the strategies I learned through taking the course. I have valuable tools available and read the newsletter regularly. There is so much good material at our fingertips and quality agents to send business to through the network.

Whether you consider yourself to be primarily a listing agent or work with buyers, we highly recommend this course. You will be better able to see both sides when you know where a buyers agent is coming from and the training that they are bringing to the transaction. It is not a magic pill to attract buyers...it is a professional way to represent them.

Every agent should go though the ABR courses! The knowledge is very helpful for all agents. Agents don't get why buyer agreements are needed and the course explains this and how to get buyers to sign without feeling threatened.
My only complaint is paying the annual fee. I don't see why it's necessary and am considering not renewing.
