I opted to get a nicer cover like this for my ipad and was so glad that I did. It has more padding and that gives me peace of mind because I tend to drop it more than I would like. The cover cushions the fall and so far my ipad has not suffered any damage. I would never use one of the thin, screen shields only when I can have this.
