Get to Know Cathy Armstrong

I have lived in Bristol most of my life.  I have two teenage daughters who are both very active in swimming at the high school level.  I have been active in real estate as a Broker/Owner for the past 8 years and highly value my clients and customers.  I serve the entire Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia area.  I encourage the agents in my office to excel in real estate by obtaining education over and above the requirements.  I accomplish this through setting the example.  I believe that in furthering my real estate education, I can assist my clients and customers at a level not available through most other agents.  I hold 5 real estate designations recognized by the National Association of Realtors:

ABR, Accredited Buyer Representative

With over 40,000 members, REBAC is the largest association of real estate professionals focusing on all aspects of buyer representation. Over 30,000 ABR® designees have completed the REBAC course, passed the test and provided documentation of buyer agency experience.

CRB, Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager

The Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) designation is recognized industry-wide as the measure of success in brokerage and real estate business management. The designation is awarded by the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers to REALTORS® who have completed the Council's advanced educational and professional requirements. CRB designees consistently increase their level of industry knowledge, advance their earning and career potential, increase their firm's profitability and benefit from active involvement in our network of real estate professionals. The new CRB Designation Program now provides credit for management experience, higher education and previously earned NAR designations. Additional credits can be earned through the Council's management education programs delivered live or by Self Study on CD-ROM.

CRS®, Certified Residential Specialist®

Agents can maximize their potential by earning the CRS® Designation and joining the organization that has served top-producing residential sales agents since 1977. The more than 35,000 CRS® Designees benefit from nationwide referral opportunities, a professional image that attracts customers, and sales and marketing support. The CRS® Designation is awarded to experienced REALTORS® who complete advanced training in listing and selling, and meet rigorous production requirements.

GRI®, Graduate Realtor®Institute

The Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) symbol is the mark of a real estate professional who has made a commitment to providing a superior level of professional services by earning the GRI designation. REALTORS® with the GRI designation are highly trained in many areas of real estate to better serve and protect their clients.

SRES®, Seniors Real Estate Specialist

The SRES® Designation program trains REALTORS® to profitably and ethically serve the real estate needs of clients age 50+.

e-PRO®

e-PRO® is a revolutionary training program presented entirely online to certify real estate agents and brokers as Internet Professionals. The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® is the first major trade group to offer certification for online professionalism.

e-PRO® is not just about technology - it's about how you can leverage your most powerful asset, your people-skills, into doing more business on the Internet

I was elected in August 2006 to a 4 year term to represent District 2 of Sullivan County as a County Commissioner.  Since being elected, I have served on the Insurance Committee, Ethics Committee, Beverage Board and the Budget Committee.  I have my hand on the pulse of the community so I can fully serve my clients and customers with a broad knowledge of the tax base, school systems and the way county money is utilized.  I believe that in order to completely serve the needs of clients and customers, an agent must go above and beyond simply having skills as a Realtor.

I have also served my real estate community for the past 5 years as a director and past president of our regional Multiple Listing Service.  Our service area extends from Abingdon, Virginia to Greeneville, TN.  Our memebership includes approximately 1600 realtors and appraisers.  The year 2009 will be my 6th year in service to our local Board of Realtors and Regional MLS.

I will be serving the Northeast Tennessee Association of Realtors this year as the Virginia Education Chairperson.  I will also be a member of the board of directors for the Bristol TN/VA Association of Realtors, serving as the senior MLS Representative.
