Get to Know Dani Baird Russell

Some children choose to follow in the footsteps of their parents, while many do not. For Dani Baird Russell, choosing to join her family in the real estate business was never really a question. As a young child she would accompany her parents to listing appointments, entertain clients children, sit floor time & attend countless open houses on the weekends. And now today alongside her family, Danielle, helps run her own real estate team the Baird & Russell Team and is part owner of John L. Scott Skagit.

Born in Seattle, Danielle moved to Skagit Valley when she was only three years old. Nestling into the Big Lake area, she spent her entire academic career K-12 attending school in the Sedro-Woolley School District.

Throughout her lifetime Danielle has been very involved in a variety of organizations and activities, as well as, countless sports programs in the community. For several years she was highly involved in the select soccer and ASA softball organizations, which ultimately led her to play Division 1, PAC-10 softball at the University of Oregon whom was once ranked 10th in the nation. While competing for the Ducks, Danielle gained invaluable experience and learned many life lessons which continue to stick with her today.

In her free time she enjoys volunteering with the Sedro-Woolley High School Softball team and is an active member of the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club, Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club Community Council, Sedro-Woolley Alumni & Schools Foundation, Leadership Skagit and many other local organizations.

Danielle graduated with her Bachelor's degree in June of 2006 from the University of Oregon and as a licensed Realtor herself since 2004, Danielle has now teamed up with her parents. Her goals are to help people achieve their goals of buying and selling homes, as well as, strive to make a difference in the lives of others.

Welcome to Big Lake!

Nestled just outside the Mount Vernon city limits sits the idyllic body of water aptly named Big Lake. Located off of highway 9, this beautiful community is just 15 min. from I-5. On a clear day you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Mt. Baker from near the elementary school; thus providing a perfect photo opt for passing photographers!

Over the past two decades and especially in the last 10 years Big Lake has transformed from simply a summertime escape into a beautiful waterfront community where locals now reside year round. Quite a change from the days when the lake was surrounded merely by small lake cabins and vacant lots. And while there has been significant residential growth, those living here haven't surrendered or compromised the natural beauty the area bestows. Big Lake has been able to maintain and preserve the peacefulness and the pure scenic attractiveness that the community is known and loved for. Locals will attest that it isn't uncommon to see a deer spring across your lawn or to catch site of a bald eagle flying over the lake and swooping down to grab a fish. And colorful breathtaking sunsets during the summertime are an absolutely stunning site.

Once in the area take advantage of the public boat launch located on the Westside of Big Lake as it provides a great spot to drop your boat or jet skis' in the water and enjoy some wakeboarding, fishing, or even just a slow cruise around the lake. With the lake as its backdrop, take note of the 9-hole Overlook Golf Course on the eastside of the lake as it offers a great place to get out and swing the clubs. And for those looking to grab a bite to eat head up to the Big Lake Grocery for a snack or stop by the Big Lake Bar & Grill or Big Rock Cafe for food, drinks and entertainment.

The biggest draw to the lake occurs annually on the 3rd of July; thus drawing thousands of Skagitonians to celebrate our nation's Independence Day with a great fireworks display put on by our truly dedicated Volunteer Big Lake Fire Department.

So grab your boat, invite some friends and head out to Big Lake and enjoy one of Skagit Valley's most beautiful areas!
