I joined Century 21 APD Associates in August of 2008. My friends and family thought I was crazy for wanting to enter an industry that was going through one of its worst times. I looked at my new career as an opportunity. I remember telling my dad, "Look, if I can survive this down period and still come out relatively unscathed...then I can flourish when the market rights itself."
Let's rewind to how I ended up in El Paso in the first place. After graduating from Baylor University in May of 2007 with a BBA in Entrepreneurship & Marketing, I headed back to San Antonio (my hometown). For a year, I did some Internet business development at a Toyota dealership and also did contract work for a marketing firm up in Austin. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do career wise and the job market at that time was dismal...especially for college graduates.
When my girlfriend graduated from Baylor a year later, I decided that I wanted to move to El Paso, TX. The opportunity to get involved in real estate came about and here I am!
I'm currently obtaining my GRI certification and already obtain an SFR (short sale/foreclosure certification). When I'm not doing real estate, I write a monthly column for the El Paso Times about my experiences as a new El Pasoan. I am also involved with the El Paso Museum of History....if you are ever in El Paso, come visit, free admission!
As a recent transplant, I was forced to learn this city inside/out and in the process have made some wonderful friends and have even shown my wife a few activities El Paso has to offer that she didn't know about while she was growing up here.
I look forward to a long career in real estate and I am constantly learning every day on the job.
