First time Home Buyers are being given the chance of a lifetime with the 2009 $8,000 first time home buyer tax credit. To qualify the new homeowner may not have a owned a home in their name or spouses name (if they filed joint tax returns) for the last 3 years. This credit is not a loan like the program that came out in 2008 for $7,500. A first time home buyer can even file an amended tax return after already filing for 2008 and receive the money this year. The 100% financing has not gone away completely, but for most of you plan on 3.5% down payment minimum. I have represented countless first time buyers - let me represent you!
