Pre-inspection life

My pre-inspection life started off in the field of science. After graduating from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), I worked here in the Detroit area in prototype development, working on projects ranging from new faucets to  automobiles to military applications. During this time, I began performing different environmental inspections as a part of my job.

After life in the prototype field, I began working in the building industry, where I became a licensed builder and continued my environmental work. I went on to work on plumbing, drywalling, and work as a general contractor. But my main focus was in disaster response and restoration... I was one of the guys that would go and deal with flood damage, work with the homeowner and insurance company, and work to restore the home (and the homeowner's life) back to normal.

I spent a lot of time inspecting and working on the environmental side of things, especially in mold remediation, indoor air quality, and ventilation.

Home, Commerical and Environmental Inspection

I moved on to do home, commerical and environmental inspections full-time, opening Diadem Property Inspections (part of Diadem Business Group, LLC). Michigan is one of the states that does not license home inspectors. However, I carry my Michigan Builders License (number 2101198700), and I am a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (National Association of Home Builders).

I am certified by the ESA as a Mold Inspector and Assessor, an Allergen Inspector, and in Radon Measurement. And I am an Indoor Environment Certified Consultant with the International Indoor Air Quality Commission.

I hold memberships in the Building Industry Association of Southeast Michigan, the Michigan Association of Home Builders, and the National Association of Home Builders.

Coverage area

I work throughout the following Michigan counties:

Oakland Macomb Wayne St. Clair Lapeer Genessee Livingston Washtenaw Monroe

Inspection options

I offer many inspection options for you to choose from, so you can find something that meets your needs and is affordable:

Basic Home Inspection - Oftentimes called a Four-Point Inspection, this determines the condition of the roof, electric, heating and plumbing. Comprehensive Home Inspection - This inspection exceeds the standards for the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, includes moisture meter readings, gas detection, and looks at all accessible areas of the house. Comprehensive Home Inspection with Indoor Air Quality Inspection - Includes the comprehensive home inspection, and a full indoor air quality inspection (see details of the IAQ inspection below). Comprehensive Home Inspection with Energy Audit - Includes the comprehensive home inspection, and a full energy audit (see details of the energy audit below). Premium Home Inspection with Energy Audit and Indoor Air Quality Inspection - The full inspection package for a home... a full house inspection, an energy audit and an indoor air quality inspection. Pre-List Seller's Inspection - An inspection designed to generate confidence with potential buyers... this is not intended to be a substitute for the buyer's home inspection. Energy Audit and Thermal Imaging - An inspection of the energy components of the home or commercial building. Each room is given a thermal scan with an infrared camera to identify areas of air infiltration or heat loss. Rental Inspection - An inspection for rental property owners and property renters... documents the conditions of the property at move-in and move-out. Home Warranty - An inspection of property before the home warranty expires. Issues can be brought to the builder's attention so they can be corrected during the warranty period. Premium Indoor Air Quality Inspection - A property inspection, mold screen, allergen, lead and asbestos testing, and radon measurement. Sick Building Inspection - The commercial version of the Indoor Air Quality Inspection, designed to meet the unique needs of businesses or property owners. Mold Inspection and Assessment - A mold inspection (limited to a specific area or a general inspection of the entire house or commerical building)... includes (if necessary) the writing of a mold remediation protocol and follow-up post-remediation verification (i.e. clearance) inspection for any remediation. Allergen Testing - Fed up with sneezing an watery eyes? Identifies allergens that might be causing the problem -- and how to reduce or eliminate them. Radon Measurement - Identifies unsafe levels of the #2 cause of lung cancer... and how to reduce unsafe levels. Phase I Environmental Site Assessments - Identifies potential or existing environmental contamination liabilities (does not include physical samples) Phase II Environmental Site Assessments - An "intrusive" investigation which collects samples of soil, groundwater or building materials to analyze for quantiative values of various contaminants.
