Get to Know Jianie Bernard
While not a native Californian, it has been my home since August 25, 1995. I was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti but my family moved to Gary, Indiana when I was 3. I know....what was a Caribbean family doing moving to Indiana? Well, back then the steel mills offered great opportunities for immigrant families. My Dad worked and retired from US Steel Corporation which enable my siblings and I to attended private school. We were blessed because of his sacrifices. As I got older I realized I hated the cold. My Caribbean blood was not meant for the Midwest Winters! In 1995 I moved to California and haven't looked back. I have settled in North San Diego County where I am raising a wonderful little boy. Just loving life! Being from Indiana I am a huge Colts fan. This causes a bit of controversy as I live in Charger territory. Oh well, Go Colts!!!!
