Get to Know Jim Hart

My family and I moved to Fort Nelson from Fort St. John in 1984.  Previously we lived on the Queen Charlotte Islands, in Telkwa, Lillooet, Merrit, Chase, Kelowna and the lower mainland, all in BC.  Family includes wife Mary Ann of 43 years, sons Andy and Clint, and daughter Sandy (Shofner).

Over the years I have had several jobs including swamper on a garbage truck, building trucks for Canadian Kenworth, bank accountant, fire chief of the Queen Charlotte City Volunteer Fire Department and commercial prawn fisherman with my own boat.  I have worked mainly in natural resource law enforcement with several provincial and federal agencies - the last as Disrict Conservation Officer at Fort Nelson since 1984.  Most recently I have been contract flying using my own aircraft, doing telemetry work tracking radio tagged fish and wildlife including walleye, bull trout, inconnu, caribou, elk, wolves and black bears.  One interesting project took me down the MacKenzie River as far up as Geat Slave Lake and down to Tuktoyuktuk on the arctic ocean relocating inconnu (large type of whitefish) which were tagged just north of Fort nelson at the junction of the Fort Nelson and Liard Rivers.

Mary Ann and Sandy (owner broker of RE/MAX Results Realty) said I was not staying busy enough and convinced me that I should get into real estate and give Sandy a hand.

Certifications

I attended the first Commercial Trading Services Applied Practice Course at UBC (University of British Columbia), Vancouver and have since specialized in commercial real estate.  I was recently accepted as a candidate member of the Northern BC Commercial Council.  In addition to commercial properties I am also interested in acerages, guiding territories, traplines, remote cabins and of course act as Sandy's assitant for residential listings.
