The decisions surrounding a move, I've found over the years, are generally complex. Even when the move is for "positive" reasons...a job promotion, a wedding, expanding family, etc., most people have mixed emotions. Yes, they want to move, but how much can they "really" afford (not just what the lender says, what does their pocketbook say!), will they be able to find something that "feels" like home to them, will their current home sell in time for their move and will they have enough money to close on their new place, how will the kids adjust, etc. These thoughts engender all sorts of emotions as well.
Of course it's important, when deciding whether or not to work with an agent...and then deciding WHICH agent is best for servicing your needs...to find one that is skilled in a variety of areas that are important for your successfull move....things like market knowledge, marketing skills, negotiating strategies, utilizing all the great technology tools that provide MEANINGFUL benefit for the client, understanding of all the paperwork involved, etc. However, over the more than two decades that I've served in this industry, the one thing that people seem to MOST appreciate is that LISTENING TO THEIR NEEDS & PRIORITIES has always been a top priority to me. I've always believed that, in order to help a client come to the best decisions for THEMSELVES, I must understand what is important to them!

It's been very clear that our industry is desperate need of an overhaul. The vast majority of agents are pretty much doing business the way it's been done for decades. However, the consumer is challenging that approach. They challenge it every time they put up a FSBO sign, every time they sign a "quick fix" agreement disguised as "choice", but really offering "cheap" (though in reality the COST generally far exceeds the Price!). Recognizing that there IS a need out there for the consumer to have LEGITIMATE choices in the services they want, as well as in how they want to pay for them, I've added Real Estate Consulting (as an ACRE Consultant) to the services I offer.
What that boils down to is quite simple. If a client or customer has needs other than those satisfied by the traditional "commission-paid-after-close", I can generally provide those services. Often I find that people "think" they want something different, but once they understand what they are REALLY paying for when they work with an agent in the traditional way (what they are paying for is INSURANCE, it's DEFERRED RISK, it's their safety net in case the house doesn't sell) they still often choose to go that route. The difference is I give them OPTIONS, and I give them TRANSPARENCY which enables them to become, not just better informed, but also better participants in the process.
