     Kathi, Bob and Cris McLean specialize in several communities in Southern California located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.  We've been here for 30+ years, living in 8 different homes ourselves, and are ambassadors for one of the best locations in the country and the world.  This area is called the Conejo Valley (Conejo is "rabbit" in Spanish for the millions of rabbits that once inhabited the mountains around here).  Let us tell you about the communities.

     Westlake Village:  a picture-perfect area with inviting neighborhoods, terrific people, beautiful surroundings, great schools, businesses, shopping, restaurants and more.  Westlake Village began as one of the first Master-planned communities in California in the late 1960's and it continues to be a wonderful place to live.  The man-made lake, Westlake, and Westlake Island with lakeside homes comprise the center of the community.  

      North Ranch in Westlake Village is a sprawling area, primarily with custom homes ranging in size from 3000' to 15,000' in size on 1/2 acre to 5-acre parcels.  Many gated areas within North Ranch exist, along with the North Ranch Country Club and its 72-hole golf course.  North Ranch has neighborhooods with townhomes as well as single family homes.

      Hidden Valley is home to fewer than 40 families and the lot sizes vary from a minimum of 20 acres to a maximum of over 1000 acres.  Once an equestrian and farming area, Hidden Valley today is often the choice of industry leaders, sports and entertainment figures, families, and anyone who seeks privacy and space - far enough away from the madding crowd but close enough to be a part of the "busyness" of California.  Hidden Valley is surrounded by the Santa Monica Mountains and National Parks and is due north - as the crow flies - from Malibu.  Hidden Valley is still home to superb equestrain facilities and avocado groves, and pricing ranges from $5,000,000 to $50,000,000.  A paradise unto itself!

       Sherwood, Lake Sherwood, and Sherwood Valley.  These areas take their name from the Lake Sherwood there, so named after the 1920's movie "Robin Hood" that was filmed there.  A history-rich area with some homes that date from the 1930's to current homes that are part of Sherwood Country Club, a private gated development where over 600 homes will exist when the community is completed within the next decade.  Sherwood has 2 private golf clubs, 2 private golf courses, and beautiful homes, ranging from 2500' in size to nearly 20,000' in size.  Like Hidden Valley, the Sherwood area is surrounded my majestic mountains and the bounty of nature.  It also is highly desired by families seeking a high quality of life in a serene setting with all imaginable emenities.......but still at a pace where neighbors are friendly and kids can ride their bikes and fish in the lake.

        Thousand Oaks is the major city in the Conejo Valley and comprises the largest portion of land.  Thousand Oaks' history goes back to the 1940's though the major growth has happened in the last 30 years.  Homes of all types and size and price ranges are available, along with prize-winning schools and major companies that provide a solid base of economic staibility.
