I remember visiting Ocala in the early 1980’s and being captivated by miles of rolling pastureland, granddaddy oaks and the site of breathtaking horse farms around every turn. Hearing the birds singing in the morning, eating lunch downtown in the Square surrounded by Historic Structures and being able to travel at the “speed limit” without endless traffic, was not something I was use to being raised in South Florida.
While learning to buy and sell thoroughbred race horses and raise Angus cattle, I began my Real Estate career and began working for a prominent new home builder/developer in Marion County, Florida, Irvin Construction Company, Inc.
Continuing to pursue my passion for Real Estate, I accepted a position with a local cellular phone company and began acquiring properties and constructing cellular towers. During that time, I worked with county, state and federal government agencies obtaining zoning, environmental and regulatory approvals for new tower properties throughout the State of Florida, which gave me invaluable experience and knowledge that would benefit me in my Real Estate career.
My philosophy is “to those who much is given, much is required” and recognized at an early age I would be called to do great things. I credit my father, a 50 year sales veteran, for inspiring my work ethics. He exhibited loyalty, honesty, hard work and always put his customer’s needs first above his own, which I admired.
I continue to pursue my dream of owning and maintaining my farm. I am still involved in the horse industry, and strongly believe in giving back to the community by being associated with various charities. In 2006 I began making hand crafted belt buckles, in addition to maintaining my top producing Real Estate business. In March of 2007, we were featured in Ocala Style Magazine crediting the achievements in my buckle business, which goes by the name of Learway Originals.
While the market has changed over the years, I still love what I do and look forward to each day.
I am proud to be a Realtor with 20+ years experience in Central and North Central Florida. With my background, I am very knowledgeble of the workings of everything "Real Estate" from Large and Small Farms to Cattle Ranches to Sellers and Buyers in 55+ Communities, as well as First-time Home Buyers. I enjoy working with both Sellers and Buyers. I also love to hunt and have worked with avid and recreational Hunters to find the right Hunting Tract. My love of the Cattle Industry allows me to feel comfortable assisting clients that wish to list or buy large Cattle Ranches throughout Florida. I also enjoy very much working with Retirees looking for that special place to call home in the Sunshine State. I have sold and listed commercial real estate and multi-family housing as well. |This past winter had us ready to leave Colorado and head to Florida for some much needed sunshine. After looking in the Phoenix area, we began focusing on southern Florida around Ft. Myers and Punta Gorda, before considering the possibilities of living in the Ocala area. The climate, scenery, traffic, and lifestyle of the Ocala area are far more appealing to us than the other areas that we considered. We were also amazed by the prices of the properties and the amenities that are included in the developments, and Linda helped make the process smooth and easy. Linda was a great fit for a Realtor from the first time we contacted her. She took the time to find out what was really of interest to us and supplied us with listings that fit our initial requirements. After trimming the listings down to three homes, each in four different subdivisions, she scheduled two full days to drive me around to show me the locations, homes, and amenities – all of this even though we had never met in person and our only contact had been on the phone and by e-mail. As a result of those two days, I was able to come up with a short list of three homes located in an Adult Living Community so my wife could fly out from Colorado to view the homes with us. The result was that we were under contract by noon two days later and headed back to Orlando to catch a flight home. Being long distance buyers, we feel very lucky and are especially happy to have a Realtor like Linda Lear representing us and pulling all of the loose ends together. This seems like it could be a daunting task to try to coordinate from a distance without having someone like Linda involved on the front lines.|

She spent a lot of time going over the bottom line, since we picked a bad time to sell and she was very sensitive to our feelings when bringing an offer that was lower than the last one. I think proximity to town and hospitals, etc. were among the reasons the home didn't sell. I count her among my friends, and still keep in touch with her. I would recommend her to anyone. |After looking at properties for years in Florida we decided to look in Ocala where a family member recommended Linda Lear. We gave Linda our basic criteria and planned a visit to work with her. Linda selected just a few homes she thought matched our criteria and were in our price range as an initial reality check.
