Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Matt moved to Kauai in 1994 and took a job with Hanalei Bay Resort in Princeville. As the Food & Beverage Manager of the Bali Hai Restaurant and Happy Talk Lounge, Matt learned the importance of importance of Hawaii's hospitality industry first-hand. After a few years in hospitality, Matt left Kauai for two years and traveled around the world. He spent time in New Zealand and Australia, southeast Asia, India, Nepal, Tibet, Europe and even the middle east before returning to Kauai. Since becoming a full-time REALTOR in 1998, he’s been in the top 3% for sales volume and in the top 4% for transactions of all Kauai Realtors (as of August 2010). In 2001, Matt was hired to be the Broker-In-Charge for Kauai’s (then) top-selling real estate brokerage, a local Century 21 franchisee. He managed more than 40 agents and facilitated hundreds of transactions. During that time, team-building made it possible for him to focus on personal clients and marketing and selling listings. Always passionate about real estate marketing, Matt helped to reinvent Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers and HawaiiLife.com in May of 2008. Hawaii Life Real Estate Services now employs over 100 brokers, agents, and support staff in 5 offices around Hawaii. In 2009 HawaiiLife.com won a WebAward for best real estate website. In 2010 the company was nominated by Inman News as one of the Most Innovative Brokerages in the country.Matt manages teams of Realtors throughout the State of Hawaii, and leads by example... with an intense focus on marketing and selling real estate. The management team he’s built at Hawaii Life includes some of the finest brokers, marketers, and programmers in the industry. Matt has experience with condominium developments, multi-unit properties, and high-end property sales. He has been confirmed by the Hawaii judicial system as an expert witness for multiple real estate-related legal cases in Hawaii. He is a graduate of the Hawaii Association of Realtors Leadership Academy, Class of 2010, and he currently serves as the President-Elect for the Kauai Board of Realtors. He is also a member of the Honolulu Board of Realtors, the Realtors Association of Maui, the West Hawaii Association of Realtors, and the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors. He enjoys surfing, hiking and traveling. He's a musician and has played live bluegrass music on KKCR and a few other venues around Kauai. He and his wife, Elif, live in Kilauea on Kauai's north shore.
