I have been a resident of Sumter since 1972. I left Sumter in 1982 to serve our country in the military. After 20 years of active duty military service I returned to Sumter to retire.I have lived in South Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Kansas, California, Colorado, Okinawa, Japan, South Korea. and HondurasAs a military dependent, active duty military and as a military retiree I have moved around many times. I have moved all over the world since I was born. Having made numerous moves, I know the challenges of moving from one home to another either buying or selling a home. I have also bought investment property in the Sumter area for several years. I also served on active duty in the military for over 20 years. Collectively with the experiences I have had facing many obstacles and challenges when moving has aided me in providing my clients the benefits of my experince in moving and buying and selling homes prior to becomming a real estate agent.
Once I became a real estae agent one of my very first goals was a personal commitment to provide first time buyers with education in the process of buying a home. I soon found out once I became a real estate agent that there were many things that agents I have worked with when buying or selling a home did not tell me. Therefore, I am committed to making a difference for first time home buyers as well as those who have not bought or sold a home in many years.
It's not just assisting a client in buying or selling a home! I want them to understand the process from start to finish. It's important to undestand why different events happen during the process of buying or selling a home. It's important to understand the mortgage process, financial options available, the need or home inspections and all of the over 180 steps I guide my clients through during the process of buying or selling their home.
Follow up after closing and staying in touch with clients has benefited me in so many ways. I am currenly working with several of our local builders in the area. We have builders specializing in spec homes and custom built homes. Two of the builders I am working with are second genration builders in the Sumter area.
We are seeing continued growth in the Sumter area. Both Shaw Air Force Base and the Sumter community are expanding. U. S. Army personnel are coming to Shaw Air Foce Base as a result of the base realignment. New companies and business are continuing to pop up all over Sumter.
We are seeing more and more pople from other parts of the country moving into the area making Sumter their home. Many retirees are looking at this area with milder climate,lower property taxes and affordable homes.
Sumter is in a terrific location. You can be at the beach, mountains and major cities within about a 100 miles or less of Sumter. Lake Marion and Santee Cooper well known for bass fishing is only about a 30 minute drive.
