Michael was raised in Madison, New Jersey and graduated from St. Michael’s College in Burlington, Vermont with a B.A. in Business Administration. He and his wife Katie, a long-time Sarasota resident, moved permanently to Sarasota in 1982 and rapidly became immersed in the life and culture of the community. Michael received his Realtor’s license that year, then shortly after that his Broker’s license and has been associated with Michael Saunders & Company since 1982 serving first in the Commercial Division and for the last 10 years in MS&C’s Luxury Residential Division.
Michael’s dedication is evident through his thriving repeat and referral business. His commitment to understanding and meeting his luxury client’s special needs includes constant education, and he is proud of his additional designations of Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), a designation awarded to less than 4% of all licensed Realtors, and as a Graduate Realtors Institute (GRI) from the National Association of Realtors. Michael is an active member of the Sarasota Association of Realtors and served for several years on its Board of Directors.
Community involvement is an important aspect of Michael’s life. He has been active with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County since 1990, serving as past Chairman and twice earning the Board Member of the Year Award. Michael is also a founding board member and served for 20 years on the Board of the Florida Winefest and Auction, which benefits local disadvantaged children’s charities and he was a three-term President of a local private golf club.
