I have been a full time real estate agent since January of 1990. I am also the mother of two brilliant children, (we all think our children are brilliant) Amanda who is working on her dissertation at LSU for her PHD in Music Education and my son Bruce who is married and has 3 children and one stepdaughter with his wife, Jennifer. They live nearby in West Middlesex, so I am very fortunate to have one of my children near me with my, again, brilliant grandchildren. My husband, Bruce, works at Wheatland Tube and we have been happily married since 1974. I have experienced some of the same trials of living as most people. I have tremendous family support for this occupation that I have chosen and have never regretted being a real estate agent. I have grown in so many ways from the benefits of the job, which include all my clients and customers. Everyone brings something to the table and you only get what you give in this world. Sometimes the odds may seem stacked, but life is a blessing and we are somewhat responsible for our impact on other people.
I enjoy technology and gadgets. I seem to find a reason why I need the latest doo dad out there. I have 5 digital cameras, each has their own function, I guess (well, that is how I justify it to myself) and enjoy taking photos of just about anything. Photos of homes need to convey the very best the home has to offer so ...... I take a lot, just in case I need them. I also enjoy marketing with virtual tours as that fits right in with photography.
I mostly enjoy helping others. Real estate is a people business and I feel it is so important to give back to others.
I really enjoy helping first time homebuyers.There is so much to know with a lot of information out there, but not all of it applies or is true, so I try to treat that first timer, like I would want someone to treat one of my children/grandchildren if they were buying their first or second home. I also enjoy seniors. They have so much to offer and are often forgtotten. Their home is a huge investment, not only $$ but emotionally. These moves are not easy for anyone, but especially no for older folks. But, hey, I am lucky enough to be entering that stage also one day. Some people need their hands held....I will definitely hold anyone's hand throughout the transaction and afterwards if they need it. Marketing a home is a huge part of what a real estate agent does. "Sticking a sign in the yard" days are no longer true, if they ever were. Videos, flyers, virtual tours, email, websites and networking are all crucial to getting the home out there to the people who are considering making a move/purchase. Continuing education is mandatory in the State of Pennsylvania, but choosing topics that will help you help the consumer is crucial. Education...you have to constantly be aware that you have a lot to learn and also....a lot to teach.
