I am originally from Richmond, VA and have spent many years living on the Outer Banks during the summers and now it has been my permanent home since 2002. I have a degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, concentration in Real Estate & Urban Land Development, after which I worked in the property management field as well as banking. I have been a full time Realtor in the Outer Banks Real Estate market since 2003. Since then I have seen the ebb and flow of the Outer Banks Real Estate market from top to bottom and now back up. | This was Matt’s challenge: 1. Four joint buyers 2. Living in two states 3. Buying property in a third 4. Trying to realize a 20 year dream 5. On a budget Matt made the dream a reality !! Luck was seriously on our side when Matt was chosen via a random link on a cell phone. We could have gotten a real clunker of an agent. Instead we hit the jackpot. It must be a lot of fun trying to show houses to four decision makers at one time. Matt is so pleasant and easy going it didn’t bother him one bit. Matt Huband is a consummate professional. | Matt did a tremendous job in helping us turn our dream into a reality. From the initial meeting through closing and beyond, Matt has been extremely helpful. He made sure we thoroughly understood the market conditions, the general trend, as well as the potential to generate rental income from various properties. He understood our situation in terms of wants/needs, budget, need for turn-key vs. fix-'er up, and was able to steer us in the right direction. He sent countless listings via email and answered all of our questions in a thoughtful and meaningful way. As we continued to deliberate and change our minds/needs, Matt remained patient and never put us under any pressure to make a decision. He ended up showing us a lot of properties (some multiple times) and eventually helped us make a great decision for our family. After the offer was made and the contract was accepted, Matt continued to be involved and more importantly, provide much needed help at each step along the way - including property inspection, mortgage approval, legal/real estate questions, and even went in person to the local cable company to switch over our account at closing. After closing and during the past few months, Matt has visited the property on our behalf to help with hurricane prep, check for storm damage, and even go by the house to check something out after we had left town. | "We starting thinking about buying a house in OBX as an investment property a few years ago. Ten months ago, we got serious and started cruising the MLS listings and various realtors' web sites. Some sites required signing up with contact information. We were reluctant to do that because we knew we'd be hounded by those realtors as soon as we signed up. We found Matt's web site to be helpful and well organized and it didn't require signing up so we could still browse anonymously. We are scientists for a living and we wanted to research everything--including our realtor--very slowly and carefully before committing. Hours and hours were spent reading "investment property" and "second home" purchase books and web sites--with special attention to the "choosing a realtor" chapters, all while maintaining anonymity so as not to be hounded by realtors.
