This beautiful city was incorporated in 1987 and includes the master planned community of Valencia, as well as Newhall, Saugus and Canyon Country.  Adjacent communities of Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, Agua Dulce and Acton are located within the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.  For all intents and purposes, the real estate community considers all of the individual communities as being part of the city of Santa Clarita......all are within the Santa Clarita Valley, surrounded by mountains which often have coatings of snow in Winter, that create a beautiful and majestic backdrop for the city. The city of Santa Clarita is located approximately 35 miles north of Los Angeles center, and about a half hour drive from Hollywood. Beaches are within 45 minutes of the city, snow slopes around an hour, and Castaic Lake is within 15 minutes of the city center. 

One of the most sought after areas of Santa Clarita is Valencia. Valencia is a lovely master planned community, with many parks and recreation areas tied in with Home Owners Associations. Many areas of Valencia are connected to others with wide, lighted paseo's which also enable children to ride safely off-street.  The paseo's also connect to the larger, extensive,  Santa Clarita Riverside biking and walking trails.  Homes for sale in Valencia $500,000 and up. Condominiums and town homes are also available in Valencia.  Homes for sale in Valencia under $500,000 will include single family homes as well as condominiums and town homes.

Stevenson Ranch is one of Santa Clarita's newest additions.  While it is located wholly within the unincorporated area of Los Angeles Country, it sits adjacent to Valencia and Newhall on the 5 freeway.  It's homes rise on the slopes overlooking Santa Clarita and the views are absolutely gorgeous. If you feel yoy don't like home owner's associations, then perhaps Canyon Country is for you.  This area of Santa Clarita is accessed most readily from the 14 freeway going north. Search all Canyon Country Homes for Sale.  Estate homes and Estate Homes with acreage are also found in the Canyon Country area of Sand Canyon.  Here you can also find one of the finest golf courses in Santa Clarita and some absolutely gorgeous custom homes with spectacular views. Castaic is located north of our city center by about 10 minutes.  This community is accessed from the 5 freeway and sits adjacent to Castaic Lake.  The lake is famous for its fishing and allows boating and personal watercraft are welcome.  The lower lake has a beautiful park and swimming area, and many small sailing craft are often  seen on its waters.  Search homes for sale in Castaic area.  Hasley Canyon also has some of the loveliest custom homes on acreage on the north side of Santa Clarita. Newhall is one of our oldest communities.  Established during the gold rush days, developed further as an oil area, and then one of the earliest movie industry filming areas of Western movies, Newhall has a mixture of the old and new.  Lovely older custom homes can be found on tree lined streets and the area is the closest to the San Fernando Valley of all the Santa Clarita areas.  Search Newhall Homes for Sale. 

Saugus provides homes in an area between the 14 freeway and the 5 freeway.  Saugus was also established in earlier years and has homes built in the 1950's with large yards, huge trees, and many single level homes.  Newer homes can be both small and also over 3000 square feet for more moderate prices than which is found in Valencia. Agua Dulce is Santa Clarita Valley's area for custom homes on acreage.  This lovely area is nestled in a cozy valley surrounded by the Sierra Pelona Mountains.  It boasts National Forest on is extremeties and has snow each winter.  The residents have a wide variety of interests in using their land, but primarily one finds horses and small animals. Agua Dulce has it's own quaint town center, vineyards and winery, airpark, and the very distinctive Vazquez Rocks County Park with its soaring rocks, and which is used often as a movie set.  Search Agua Dulce Homes For Sale. 

Acton is another 20 minutes or so from Agua Dulce north on the 14 freeway.  Acton has a mixture of custom and tract homes, all of which are on at least one acre of land.  This is horse country, and there is a lot of land to ride.  The Pacific Crest Trail also runs through large portions of Acton after leaving Agua Dulce.  The mountain trails access from Acton is extensive for both horses and vehicles.  Off-roading vehicles can find many fascinating roads on which to travel.  Easy access to snow in Winter, and watch for the incredible wildflowers, especially the California poppy in the Spring.  Search Acton Homes For Sale.

These days Santa Clarita is a bustling economic center with a youthful, upwardly mobile population.  Schools are excellent and recreation abundant.
