We like people. I like helping people realize their dreams - and I saw a need for a service that was not available to home sellers in Panama City, or anywhere in the Republic of Panama. In my work as a financial consultant, I advise people about the financial consequences of buying and selling homes. When first-time buyers were unsure about how much to spend for a home I helped them analyze their financial situation and make a wise decision. When homeowners made a good profit on a sale I helped them decide how best to re-invest and protect that money. But what I saw most was homeowners who were unhappy because they had given the lion's share of the profit from their Panama real estate transaction to a real estate agent. Because most people don't have the time or expertise to sell their own home, they were stuck with paying those high commissions if they wanted or needed to sell. I'd been thinking about it for months, but when I sold my own apartment I realized just how much Panama needed a Flat Fee Realty. I estimated that my agent had been paid nearly $8,000 per hour for the time he actually put in on my listing. That seemed excessive to me, so I sat down and did the math. I tried giving the benefit of the doubt when I estimated the time my agent had spent and the costs he had paid out to advertise my apartment. It was still excessive.
