Education is very important to me. No matter who you are, no matter what you do, no matter how old you are or how many years you've been at your profession, there is always room for more information!

I have a bachelor's degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, where I majored in Social Work and had a heavy concentration of classes in Psychology. You have to be nuts to be in this business, or at least it helps, so I feel I am qualified! :)

When I first became licensed to sell real estate in 1997, I scoffed at the credentials some agents had. That is, until I reached the point where I felt trapped. I regurgitated the same information time after time to my clients. I hungered for more. I began with the GRI and CRS classes. Graduate, Realtors Institute is a series of classes that focuses on marketing and managing your real estate career; working with buyers and sellers, and networking. Certified Residential Specialist courses also focus on providing a professional real estate transaction, but there is so much more involved in it! CRS classes focus on investment properties, marketing properties, self-promotion, ... the list goes on. I actually have enough courses under my belt to earn the CRS designation but have never applied for it.

Next, I focused on Certified Residential Broker (CRB) and Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) designations. As you can imagine, the CRB designation indicates that as a manager and broker, I have an obligation to know and understand things about the market and business. The ABR designation is something I had always believed in, but not taken the time to earn. Over 90% of the time when I am working with Buyers I am a Buyers' Agent. I believe that Buyers want representation during negotiation, and THAT is what Buyer Agency is.

As our market began to change a couple of years ago, a hot topic in the real estate world was "staging." I took the first staging class offered during the Wisconsin Realtor Association Designation Week and earned the designation "Certified Home Marketing Specialist" (CHMS). Also, I earned the Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation because of the aging Baby Boomers; with the number of people over 60 increasing, and expected to increase for several years, this is great information to have under my belt.

Finally, because of the many fine homes and estates in southwest Wisconsin, I became interested in the Institute for Luxury Homes Marketing.

Along the way of getting all of this education - and planning to continue it, by the way! - I also became active in my local Realtor Association. I have been a board member, treasurer, secretary, vice president, President and Past President of the Realtors Association of Southwest Wisconsin, now a part of the Realtors Association of South Central Wisconsin. I hold the director seat on the RASCW that was provided for a member of the RASW. Locally, I'm active with the Dodgeville Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, and I am a co-chair of the Fish Fry Committee for St. Joseph's Church.

It's amazing how varied and interesting all of these different categories are, but I hope it makes me even more qualified to earn your business, and your trust. I love referrals and I REALLY love what I do!

Iowa County is located in bustling - mostly agricultural - southwestern Wisconsin. I do it all: commercial, condos, single family homes, new construction, & rural properties.
