About Me

“I had a vision of incorporating my love for real estate with interior design and Home Staging fit the bill. “

I find Staging so rewarding. I feel so lucky because I truly love what I do. Through Home Staging I have been able to combine my varied, yet related skill sets. My career itself has evolved in stages, if you will forgive the pun.

Stage One – Photographer
My original training is in photography. I cannot help but see each space as a photographic image. I understand balance and what is pleasing to the eye. This is very instrumental in Staging a room.

Stage Two – Realtor
I have always loved real estate projects. My own homes have been joyful projects and when they were complete I was constantly looking for the next challenge. Looking at real estate went from a hobby to a career change when I decided to become a member of the real estate community.

As a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson and Certified Buyers Representative for Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty in Port Washington, NY, I know first-hand what is required to sell a house.

Organically, this led me to…

Stage Three – ASP Home Stager
As I began to show properties I saw a pattern in the way buyers reacted. I clearly understood the issues that stopped them from embracing a home. This led me to get my certification in Home Staging.

As a Real Estate Agent, when I go on brokers’ inspections I always hear agents commenting on the décor instead of the actual house. If professionals that sell houses can’t see past these obstacles, how can we expect buyers to?

How do I Stage?
It’s hard to imagine Home Staging without having a strong connection with the industry.
As I educate buyers about real estate, they in turn help me educate my sellers on how to better market their homes through Home Staging. Nobody sees a house better than a buyer.

I pay close attention to buyers’ negative comments when they view a house. Then I turn them into a positive for the seller by incorporating ways to remedy the problems through my Staging.

A seller has difficulty detaching and viewing their property objectively. It’s personal; this is not just a house, it’s their home. As motivated as they may be to sell it, there is an emotional attachment that clouds their objectivity.
When we buy a house we turn it into a home with our individual style and personality. But when we sell, we have to turn it back into a house for someone else to make their home.

When a Realtor gives their opinion it can come off as criticism. Introducing the ASP Home Stager as a professional gives the Realtor the ability to offer an independent, non-threatening opinion that is fair and honest.

To me, the most important rule is never to criticize a homeowner’s possessions. In reality, there is no home that does not need to be staged before it goes on the market unless it is a model home.

I like to focus on the positive – that’s just the way I am. I want to direct my sellers to the exciting new direction in their lives. Where one chapter ends another begins
We know that today at least 89% of home buyers start their search on the Internet. If the photographs aren’t perfect, you will lose out on buyers before they even get a chance to see your home. Remember, you only have one chance to make a good first impression!

I know as a Home Staging Professional my job is to sell your home – not what’s in it.
