Steve was born and raised  in Rhode Island.   He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. 

 He happened into the remodeling field while living in San Francisco;where the opportunity to work on the beautiful Victorian and historic homes was too irresistible to pass up.  

One of the highlights of Steve's career was a brief stint living in Montana where he had the chance to learn from a master log-home builder from Sweden.   

Here in Rhode Island he has continued working on historic homes in the Elmwood and East Side areas of Providence; some dating as far back as 1750.    Steve is listed as a preferred contractor for the Providence Preservation Society. 

While a great deal of Steve's work is remodeling older homes,  "slightly used and need of updating" homes are very common.  Making a difference in people's lives by creating a beautiful and functional living space is at the very "heart" of his business. 

Steve likes to keep current with trends and techniques in the home remodeling field.  He received his certificate in Architectural Drawing from Community College of San Francisco; and more recently has become certified by the State of RI as a Lead Safe Contractor. 

Steve's 30 year history in the business enables him to be the multi-service home remodeler that he is; from plumbing to electrical...woodworking to tile. 

 Steve's customers have described him as reliable, efficient and reasonable in price; resulting in a multitude of repeat customers. Heartwood's motto is, "Invest in your Nest".
