Perhaps you might want to reconsider trading up in today's market. Yes, the price of your house has come down. If you are not upside down and do not owe more money than your home is worth, your job is secure and you need a larger home, consider this. You will actually save money to trade up now versus later. That's because the house you are buying is also worth less. It has come down more in value than your home, so you will save money. Let me show you an example. If your home is worth 300,000, and the price of the new home you are considering is worth 500,000, and each have come down about 20% in value, you are saving about 20,000 to act now. Do the math with any other home vesus higher priced home scenario and you will find the same thing happening. If, however, you wait, your home will eventually go up in value, but so will the higher priced home, but it will increase more. That makes it more expensive to wait. Does this make sense? If it does and you are within the northeast part of Sacramento County, please feel free to contact me to explain it further and make you family more comfortable in a better home.
