Get to Know Mike Wilbur

A little introduction:

I am the Branch Manager of Guild Mortgage in Salem and Keizer, Oregon.  I have over 13 years in the mortgage industry and a total of 31 in the customer service industry.  I pride myself on giving the kind of service I would want for my family.  Nobody will work harder for you than I will.  I have grown my mortgage business on a referral basis because I have taken great care of past customers.  Because of this, they tell their friends, family and co-workers that I am the guy to go to if they want the job done right.  I always say that if you get a good meal, you might tell two people but if you get a bad meal, you tell everyone.  I work to make sure you have that "good meal experience" otherwise I might as well not be in the mortgage business.  Phone calls are returned in a timely manner.  You will never be left wondering what is going on with your loan.  My goal is to make you completely comfortable with the mortgage loan process whether you are a borrower or Real Estate Professional.

My Specialties:  Homes for Heroes.  Giving back to those who serve and help us on a daily basis.  Helping Heroes with their home purchase and refinance needs buying giving them discounts on mortgage services.

Although I do almost any type of loan for single family homes, duplexes, tri-plexes and four-plexes, I am particularly knowledgeable in the following:

FHA Home Loans - Purchase or refinance or streamline refinance, this loan fits the need for about 40% of the borrowers out there today.  A great loan with low fixed rates.

FHA 203k Streamline Rehab  - Most lenders don't like to do these.  I think they are a great loan for the current time with all the homes that are in bad shape and not loan-able.  A great loan with low fixed rates.

VA and VA/IRRL - Purchase, refinance or stream refinance(IRRL), If you are a veteran, this loan will most likely be your best option.  A great loan with low fixed rates.

USDA Rural Home Loans - 100% financing for purchase transaction in Rural areas(Less than 25,000 in residence).  It has isome restrictions but it's just a great loan with a low fixed rate.  Call me for details.

More about how I do Business:

I am a Mortgage Banker.  What that means is that I have in-house underwriting, doc drawing and funding.  This gives me a competitive advantage over a mortgage broker, local or national bank for the best rates, fastest underwriting and quickest closings.  Not to mention the great level of personal service you will receive!

I determine what your goals and needs are.  Only then can I suggest the mortgage options that will give you the knowledge you need to make the right decision for you and your family.  Buying a home is the largest purchase a person makes in their life.

I work with buyers of all kinds.  If you are a First Time Homebuyer, I will walk you through the process step by step.  If you are a seasoned Real Estate Investor, let's sit down an talk about your plan and your goals for owning real estate to make sure it is right for you.  I strive to make the complex mortgage loan process a more enjoyable experience by delivering exceptional customer service.  My team of mortgage professionals will be there to answer any questions you have along the way in a timely manner.

Oh by the way, My immediate local market includes Salem, Keizer, Silverton, Stayton, Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Sweet Home, Newberg, Wilsonville, McMinnville and Woodburn but I am licensed to do mortgages in both Oregon and Washington.

Certifications

I have lived in Oregon all my life.  I was born in Corvallis and then moved to Klamath Falls and Eugene as my Father worked his way up the corporate ladder.  I was able to make many friends along the way.  I attended Winston Churchill High School, Lane Community College and the University of Oregon all in Eugene, Oregon.  I have spent the last 25 years in Salem and Keizer, Oregon.

I began my working life as a box boy with Albertsons and quickly made my way up to Store Director.  After 25 years in the grocery business I decided it was time to do something else.  As I looked for something new, I recalled my own bad experiences in trying get a mortgage.  I determined that if I took the customer service skills from the grocery business and applied them in the mortgage business that I would have a fundamental advantage against other mortgage loan officers.  And here I am 13 years later, living proof that customer service is KING!  I think it makes a big difference when you love what you do.

I have two great daughters, Maddi 22 and Mo(Miranda)19 that are the best you could ask for.  We enjoy snow skiing, camping, boating, waterpsorts and relaxing on the water.  Both sets of grandparents live within five minutes of us in the Salem and Keizer areas so they have been able to watch the girls grow through school and sports.  My Father just turned 84 years old and he still plays golf five days a week!  He says that is his "job".  I want his job!
