As a devoted family man, small business owner, and REALTOR®, Don Chapman knows how hard it is to balance work and home life, but he's managed to build a strong and lasting partnership with his wife , Sharon, for the past 21 years. When Don married Sharon in 1985, he became the instant and delighted father of two lovely daughters as well. Don has said, "The most important job of my life has been raising our two daughters."
Don's interests, jobs, and knowledge have all pointed to sales success. As a young entrepreneur in Richmond's Carytown, he stood out on the street corner and juggled clubs and balls to attract attention to his store, Illusions. This began his love affair with people of all types. An avid reader, Don is captivated by technology and does most of his reading in digital format on his pocket PC. He has the enthusiasm of a geeky kid when talking about technology.
Certifications
Don received his e-PRO certification (Certified Internet Marketing Professional) in January 2004, and puts his technology skills to good use by creating Virtual Tours on all his listings. He takes all the pictures and creates a moving panorama of the house and garden, showcasing the unique qualities of each property. This innovative method of showing a home is fun and effective.
In 1984, Don received his Real Esate Sales license and joined Wall & King Real Estate Services as a sales agent. He was promoted to sales manager with the first year! He earned his GRI (Graduate Realtors Institute) in January 1985 from the University of Virginia and began real estate appraising in September 1986. Don is a Certified Residential Appraiser and HUD approved appraiser.
In his more than 23 years in real estate, Don has been involved in sales and appraisals of over 5,000 properties valued at more than 900 million dollars. With his experience, Don knows if a house is a good investment. He has an eye for construction and quality and knows how history and market trends impact value.
