That's for when you (or other) use the short URL and others click on it.  typically, if you are posting to social media, you would use the short URL (so you don't have the long one cluttering up your update.  You can then separately track how much your social media is driving traffic to your blog posts.  (but only if you use it).

You can create the short url at the top right of the post and then copy and paste it.

Tammy Lankford uses these and she's written a few posts on this topic which you might be able to find on here if you do a search.

It is the same as on Utube, you can use a short link or a longer one. I usually copy the long one. They both work the same.

It is the total clicks from where you posted the short link. Examples would be a Facebook or Twitter.

Ginger, Debbie already answered this very well.  I use the short URL a lot when I post to FB or when I sent specific posts to some of my customers.  Let's me see whether people are actually looking at it.
