I have goals for the year but don't do a full year's business plan - too much can change. I do quarterly planning so I can actively make changes throughout the year and adjust based on the market, program availability, new technology, rate changes, etc.
We help agents with their business plans regularly. The key is to create key performance indicators (KPI's) for daily actions. Then use this for your planning tool. For example if you make 5 calls per week to past clients you should expect 1 referral per month. We have agents print their reports and being them in.
