I've worked with many agents over the years and communication seems to be the #1 thing - don't disappear when things go wrong, answer your phone, keep everyone in the loop, etc.  Having a lot of programs available and product knowledge is also important because it increases the potential pool of buyers.  Fast underwriting, and doing a thorough pre-approval I've also been told are very important.

I want quick turnaround on pare-approvals and underwriting; I want them to respond quickly to my clients and treat my clients like I treat them. I work with a very limited number of lenders regularly but they take care of me and my clients superbly and I know I can count on them to do so.

Communicate and update! The loan officers who are on my (very short) referral list know what I expect and they answer my questions before I have the chance to ask.

Follow up with the clients as well, do what you say you will and when you will and be honest.

I'm a lender! I'm new to this industry! Here's what the 100 or so realtors I've talked to have said to me. In order to be successful you must do the following:

  1. Answer your phone. We don't care what day or time it is. Answer it.
  2. Communicate. I and my client would like to know where we are in the process. Please dont make me call and manage you during the process. Call me before I call you.
  3. Give me updates as frequently as possible.
  4. Call my client directly and update me after.

These are tips I've recevied and so thats going to be my agenda working with agents!
