Oh, I would say it is the telephone. I make a lot of schmooze calls to my past clients, and referrals/repeat business seem to be the biggest part of my production.
Websites I have multiple. Also make sure your zillow Trulia are updated with past sales ect. I do not pay for buyer leads but received an inquiry from a client last week $2-$4M read testimonials and past sales.

Just analyzed last year's business; 60% referral, 40% online but of the 60% referral, 50% of the refering sources originated from my website or directly from AR (not agent referrals, but consumer inquiries directly from AR).

It is really important to expand on the meaning of benficial.
Marketing is about getting consumer response. Adwords, placement ads, blogging and similar create the response, in great volume, and that can be called beneficial. Even better if a well planned squeeze properly converts.
What I have found benefical, in my little slice of Florida paradise, is very old school. Directly connected to the 90 day market and closing meaning...more happy dances. They are FLIERS!
These work incredibly well considering the demographics of the area and the large number of snowbirds and vacationers, and sports fans and the multitudes of persons here without a connect to anyone.
I'm not talking about the ordinary property flier in the info box but I AM talking about the info box and EVERY public portal available.
