I try to become friends with as many as possible on facebook and/or linkedin, this makes life a bit easier. I also review my list of past clients and leads and give them a phone call once in a while just to check in. Then many of my past clients receive my monthly newsletter from my 220 marketing website as well ; )
A good loan officer will have past clients on the email lists for regular contacts and will make follow up calls asking for referrals.

I am not a lender, but I have found facebook useful in staying connected with past clients. It offers a light, personal touch and is a great way to stay on top of birthdays, and other events in a person's life.
