I also went the route of looking up agents in the area I needed a referral from on AR and contacting them personally. I spoke with several, figured out which one responded quickly, knew the area, and had experience. Then I completed a referral agreement and my clients were very satisfied.

I haven't had much success with the referral network here on AR.

In Active Rain, you can search the leaderboard in the state, county and city for which you are in need of an agent.  Look at their blogs and call to see if they seem good for your client and will take the referral.  Or you can post it in the referral section here:

I agree with the otehrs who said you should research the agents in the area and then refer.

In each area that you have referral, I would take some time and research Realtors for that area. Before you refer an agent you want to be sure they are reputable.... So look them up online and then make sure you talk to them

I recently needed two agents for a client that was moving to two totally different locations.  I went on AR and looked up agents in the areas of interest and contacted each one directly.  Once vetted, we did a referral agreement. Ta Dah! If there is a more proper way, I would appreciate someone correcting me - or recommending the better process.

I generally have looked up agents in the area, and called.  Then somewhat vet them on the phone to make sure they will take care of my client.

I have not tried posting a referral before, be interested to see what folks say
