I used to have magnetic signs on my car, but realized that if the signs were not taken off every night, the moisture behind the signs ruined the paint on my car. Also, if you are going on a listing presentation, your potential client may not want the nosy neighbors knowing that they might be selling their home.  The last thing I want to do is set a negative tone before I even step foot in the door.  If you introduce yourself to everyone and keep in touch with potential clients, I don't think car signs really matter.

I don't like to use any Jeff, because when some one cuts me off and I flip them the bird, I don't want them to know who I am!

Let alone if I accidentally cut someone off.

Jeff - I have never considered putting any sort of advertising on my car. I use it for so many personal things, I don't want people to think I am trying to sell them something when I am at a restaurant, or at my sons football game.

I like Gabe Sanders answer though.

Thought you might enjoy this pic I have, of an attorney's car on the freeway. The ad is amazing, but so is the car!

Jeff, I don't.  Probably couldn't get by with it in DC without other agents giving me a hard time.  It's thought to be a little wee bit, um, tacky.

Noah Seidenberg  - I do have a vanity plate - SELS HMZ. Nothing wrong with privacy

Roy  - We see some of the rear window signage here, and a LOT of vanity plates

William Feela - makes sense

Steven - the point about kids is a good one

Raoul - good luck with the decision.

Debbie - would love to see a pic of those purple wheelcovers!

Jeff,

I hate it, it cheapens us as real estate professionals.  When was the last time you saw a doctor, attorney advertizing on their cars...I know I am coming on strong here, and one of our clients did that with a Smart Car she bought for that purpose, and now she was not in the high end of real estate...In her words, it was the biggest mistake she ever made.

There is an agent in the SF Valley who has his car wrapped to look like he is driving it, while he is driving it, and he has a motto worth not repeating.  I took a picture and was going to write a post about it, then decided not to as I thought it degraded our profession...A

Debra Peters  - I have heard that about magnetic signs and have seen cars where the damage has clearly been done. Good point about nosy neighbors - I have a vanity plate and always ask my sellers if it is an issue if neighbors see this. If not sure, I just park some distance away or take my wife's car

Gabe Sanders  - I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that you would do such a thing...cut someone off, that is. But it's a great point. If you are not a good driver perhaps advertising that fact is NOT a good thing to do

I never used any signature on my car. To tell the truth, it is not very popular in L.A. Usually, I see magnetic signs for garden, IT, repair, nail services. Realtors are usually use benches( I'm not a fan of that as well.)

Jeff, there is one company here in Chicago Land that I won't mention that encourages a company logo to be used on vehicles and maybe I would not do it but it does get your attention. I would be more likely to consider doing it if it was only a work car.

Jeff Dowler CRS not thought of it as such. Since heard the stories that few towns in Boston area consider the car as a 'commercial' vehicle and may have some concerns.

A company logo in the rear window helps as clients follow you in their vehicle.

I used a license plate with REMAX for many years.

No Jeff but I have seen many people who have. I am just too private. Yes I wear a Coldwell Banker jacket at the grocery store and talk to people and hand out business cards but the same as Vanity license plates, I feel like I want to be more anonymous but that is just me, I have seen Realtors do it and I say more power to them.

Do you have one on the Jeffmobile?

Jeff Of course, if you are driving to meet someone they will feel more comfortable knowing who you are just because you have signs on the side of your car.   If you want to brand yourself in an area the best thing you can do is have signs so they know who you are and see you over and over.

2 Negative points....  Dont let your kids drive the car,  your names on the side of the car.  And take the signs off from time to time and wash underneath of them.  I didnt and it did scratch the paint.

Good Luck they are worth the expense

I use a vanity license plate "FLOORGRL" and have purple hubcaps.  In my area in NY/CT I can not use vehicle wrap and then drive on most of the parkways/highways.  I do have a cling on that I still need to add to back window (I'm allowed to do that.  Eventually I may get fun and creative and so some paint or decals or something on the car.  I've seen some cools cars like this.  I have to communicate the idea wo/ having it be classified as commercial vehicle.

oh, and I hope to get purple carlashes for the car soon.

Indeed. We know the neighborhood grapevine is often very active and rapid. And some sellers simply do not want their neighbors to know anything until they have made a decision - I've been in that situation for a number of reasons.

I don't mainly because it tips off neighbors that an agent was at so and so's house today. Those neighbors call the neighbor as well as their realtor friends and relatives to let them know that " I saw a realtor at the "Doe" house today. I think they are going to sell.
