IT really depends on the context.

Let me be clear, a slide show with special effects and transitions and a sound track is NOT a video or movie...IT IS A SLIDE SHOW!

I am talking about superior photography for things that do not move and well engineered shots of things that do show motion.

If the video is my first encounter with the home I really want to see 'SIZZLE' in less than 90 seconds including branding. I want to be left desperately waiting for the full length version. Then I see the link to request the full version....Yahoo!!

Dislikes: bad sound

Dislikes: improper exposure

Dislikes: zooming with the camera

Dislikes: Panning

Likes: you can create SIZZLE!

A user group was conducted in my old office for expressly this purpose. The citizens enjoy all the pizza they could eat, the beverage of their preference.

The were provided a list of homes to view on the mls each with diffent showing formats such as slide show, video walk through, 3-D immersion experience and floor plan structured tours. They were instructed to rate the home into 'must see," "might see," and 'never mind' categories. Then we ask, 'did you see....?" type of questions.

Before you spend your dollars on a 3D immersion experience, or those floor plan keyed tours,  you really need to do test group of your own. What you will notice will surprise you.

Exceptional quality, clear purpose, logical predictable sequence and you can call it done.

I'm with Gene Riemenschneider - I don't care for videos and generally skip looking at them entirely.

That said, my "like" would be: Short. I agree with Douglas Trudeau that three plus minutes is too long.

I generally do not like videos.  But I also realize I am not the consumer and my opinion does not count.  I will do them and put them up for buyers.

I like smooth panning and do not like it when you feel exhausted after watching the video, because it moved too fast.   The same for driving down the street at warp speed with the camera moving up and down with every bump.

I like a good number of still photos that progress through the home and show multiple angles of each room.  I like to be able to click through the photos at my own speed and dislike having to sit still for a virtual tour.

Lisa, I use Adobe Elements 12 for breaking down clips and lighting adjustment, then Corel VideoStudio 7 for compiling.  Together much better final product. For photos I shoot in RAW natural and use Lightroom 5 for editing. GoPro has good editing for time lapse and some distortion removal. I haven't tried the the GoPro on the Phantom videos yet. DJI recommends another Adobe product for that.

Dislikes:  unsteady pics! Jittery movements from the left & right like you're drunk walking down the front sidewalk.

I do like the aerials with the drones BUT that too can be shaky if the operator is not proficient.

It depends, IMO on the property, usually a luxury home or huge property. I would employ a professional production company to produce the video. I think videos are the future in marketing, regardless of the products or services.

Thanks Douglas. I like that your videos's are not to long. The ideas of a focus group is great too.  I don't know if this is just me but I prefer to look at pictures on the whole.  I always stop the tours panning in and out and go to just the pictures. I know that's not the majority and we need these tours but I always seem to do that myself.

Having a clear message, precise content and professionally produced just like any marketing piece would be is the only way to go. Videos can work but one only has one time to make a lasting impression as well as the opportunity for the viewer to want to see more.

As one who uses video extensively I like to show the home itself. Not a 3 minute aerial or the Listing Agents talking about themselves. What are the main attractions, can I get a feel for the floorplan, what cannot be covered in a still photo that a video can bring out about a home's features. Most of all, short and to the point. Three plus minutes is too long.
