Hi Victoria, I know this question was from awhile ago, but I just came across it. Not all virtual assistants are created equally. You have many options when it comes to virtual assistants. You can hire an individual to do work for you, or you can hire a company who has virtual assistants who work for them. The benefit of using a virtual assistant company is that it is a team of virtual assistants so that nothing falls through the cracks. If one person is great at marketing and another great at managing your database, they are both under the same roof. You wouldn't have to hire multiple virtual assistants for different tasks you need done. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I hope you have found the answer to your dilemma.

thank you all!  Good points, since all real estate is local real estate. The trust factor is huge.

I would suggest more of an a la carte relationship -- that way you can use them when you really need them and you can be more sure of getting the right person for different jobs. Just like non-virtual assistants, VA' s are not all equally good at everything you might need done.

I wouldn't use a viral assistant, because you have no control over what they do with your information.  We have an in-house assistant.

Nope, I just hired an assistant, however, have you followed or read  Renae Bolton ?  She has some awesome suggestions.

I would make a list of what you want you VA to do and then shop their service profile. There are many here on ActiveRain that do blogging, copywriting, SEO, website manitenance, etc. Go to the leaderboard and search by title and see who comes up. Read their profiles for sure before you contact them.

Victoria,

It really depends on your needs.  There are many companies out there offering this type of service.  What we have found works best with our clients is to find someone local who is willing to work from their home on a parttime basis.  You just have to define exactly what you need and want.  Also, local colleges have job boards.  I like the idea of hiring someone local.
