I don't preach but am not afraid to express my views on a subject. I have my beliefs on my profile and if it turns off a buyer or seller so be it. I am me and my faith is not something I am ashamed of.

Hi Russ -- it's not my style but it's your blog and you can do whatever you like. You may alienate some and find like-minded people - again, it's just not my style.

Payton Manning doesn't sell real estate, but I greatly admire how he talks about his faith and his career.  Notice where he ranks football.

He said of his faith, “At age 13, I committed my life to Christ, and that faith has been most important to me ever since….For me generally it had always been the big four: faith, family, friends, and football. As important as football is to me, it can never be higher than fourth. My faith has been number one since I was thirteen years old.”

He said further, “Some players get more vocal about their faith, and some point to Heaven after scoring a touchdown and praise God after games. I have no problem with that. But I don’t do it, and I don’t think it makes me any less a Christian. I just want my actions to speak louder, and I don’t want to be more of a target for criticism…My faith doesn’t make me perfect, it makes me forgiven, and provides me the assurance I once looked for. What you include in your blogs is a personal decision. Personally, I am turned off by blogs and marketing materials with religious themes. I also avoid blogs that are political rants.

I don't. My religious beliefs are not the public's business. I don't push my political beliefs on anyone either.

It is said that there are exceptions to every rule. Normally, IMO politics and religion should be avoided when it comes to real estate work. However, if a prospect makes it known that they want to live close to a house of worship and I know there is one to their liking in their area of interest, I inform them.

Russ, I do not discuss religious issues, unless it is religious holidays Christmas time.

If you do you will loose at least half of your opportunities for clients. Real estate blogs are not the place for religious or political opinions. You are trying to sell property.

If you say these belief's in a blog your will most defiantly turn off a great deal of the people reading this post and they will not call you.

Russ, I really think that it is almost never appropriate to get into religion, unless it's something that is humorous about how neurotic growing up Catholic can make you.

Whatever our religion or belief may be, we are here to sell a home, not to sell our religion or beliefs, and that goes for politics too.  A

I don't do it.  My personal beliefs have nothing to do with someone else purchasing a home.

Personally, I think it's a private matter and although no secret, I prefer not to discuss it online.

My personal belief is that as Realtors we should not touch religion or politics.

I respect those who have beliefs that they are willing to stand behind.

As long as it is not overdone and no negativity, it is okay, Russ.

It's your business and your blog. Do as you see fit. Even though you will alienate part of the potential client pool, you may at the same time enjoy working more exclusively with like minded people.

I don't discuss religion or politics in blogs or on any social media, and I am not interested in hearing either from anyone else.

I have had people ask my religious status.  As long as you are not Pushing religion, it isn't all bad.  Some wil not work with you because they don't believe and other will work with you because YOU do believe.

It has no bearing on anything so I don't mention it. I deal with people of all religious backgrounds and I'll be honest, it's never come up once.

I don't think it's good thing. 

EVERYONE is repulsed by the word religion.

However, EVERYONE wants to know the FABRIC of which you are made. The secret is 'Don't reveal first."

Religion and politics are off the table in my business environment.

I don't do it. When I'm a customer I don't appreciate religion mixed with any sales experience. Those exchanges can happen naturally in the social conversations, like discovering you both went to religious schools and share some common background.

I think mentioning religion is different than promoting religious beliefs -I think the latter may alienate those with different beliefs.  Unless you only want to do business with those with the same beliefs, I'd personally avoid it.  Mentioning religion, or relating it to real estate is a different matter, in my opinion.

I think there is a place for everything.  Each to their own blogging place.
