Good morning Kristin. With all the crazy weather in the Northeast this year, you would think the answer is yes, but that not been the case for my mortgage practice.

UP in Minnesota, there is not much weather that slows us down. but in case it does there is still plenty of marketing to catch up to

There are always projects I refer to as 'rat box' projects waiting for exactly times like these. I won't skip a beat. Right now, in the wings is a newbie agent how to get started tutorial.
However, if working with buyers, and the rain is blowing and no emergency has been declared I move forward if the seller allows. Often I ask if the seller would make provision for us to park in their garage. The owner easily understands the benefit.
In the Pilot I stock 6 ponchos' 5 golf umbrellas, booties, towels to dry feet before entering house and paper towels to clean up after ourselves before leaving.
It's not easy, but if the situation dictates, I try to be a good Boy Scout.

We just had the snowiest February in 100 years. I avoid driving on icy roads and do office work or online work. I have a 4WD Subaru that runs good in snow, but there are many stupid drivers that drive too fast for conditions and cause accidents. Usually the dry climate and sunny days get rid of the snow quickly. When summer hailstorms are forecast, I keep the car in the garage.

Fortunately, I'm in an area where these kinds of conditions rarely occur. When they are forecasted I just expect a slow down in activity and there's always a ton of things I can do in my office in my home if the weather is prohibiting showings and getting around town.

Expect there will be detours in any plans you make and always have a plan B. It could be simply catching upon your e-mails, and things you have been puttting off for ever for lack of time

We have relatively little variation in our weather except when there are big storms. So there is rarely a need to adjust our work patterns.

No changes in here( Los Angeles hood). We have few days of very heavy rains per year when no one wants to see houses and it is fine.

I am in the Midwest and we have four very distinct seasons. We dress appropriate, sometimes carry snow shovels with us and keep on doing business.

I'm in Western Colorado and we do have a seasonal slowdown. That is the winter season. I'm not in a resort area.

People around here just adjust according to the weather that day or week. It doesn't effect them unless the main businesses close for the day, such as banks. Now it relly messes things up when the schools close.

Bad weather brings the showings to a stop. There are many other things through technology and email I can do and get caught up on so I am never lacking on someone to reach out to or a website to tweak.

Kristin, guess we are rather used to snow, but when the roads are dangerous, probably not a good time to show.

Here in San Diego, weather plays a very small role in our lives which is why we pay high home prices to live here! When we get serious rain, I am not likely to show homes...but it doesn't happen often!

I know that here in the Midwest, Chief Cook hasn't been slowed down due to the snowfall this year, but the cold bitter temps and wind chills have definitely kept some of the younger couples with small children wanting to cancel and reschedule appointments!

Kristin,
Rainy days, we continue on. We add more time to get places, and avoid flooded street. When it comes to earthquakes as we experienced in Los Angeles, it brought things to a dead stop. We could not go into our office building until it was declared safe. When it was, we had to use the stairs to go and access the damage. Luckily, we had no damage, just the Xerox machine traveled from its usual location. We could not show commercial space until it was deemed safe, etc. A

Kristin, we are in New England - and yes, there is a huge impact of weather on our Real Estate business.

Debbie Laity What's your best use of time during our seasonal slow down?
Joan Cox You mean to tell me you don't want to get on Denver roads when there's storm? I can't imagine why?!? ;-)
Cindy Davis You are spoiled! A little rain?!? NICE!
Ron & Alexandra Seigel Interesting! So glad you did not have damage.

Ron Marshall that is a very intriguing answer, thank you!
Joe Petrowsky that's wonderful news! I wonder if more people apply for mortgages during snow storms when they can't get in their cars to go see property?
William Feela that is great news, you are a hearty bunch!
Annette Lawrence OOOOOO Great tips!!! Thank you! Have you blogged about that?
Jerry Lucas Agreed--my mother's voice is always in my head when deciding to drive icy roads "It's not you I'm worried about, it's all the other idiots on the road."
