Of course I so very much want to have another agent host an open house.
However, I need to be certain the homeowner understands the purpose of the open house. If they consent to be on the buyer entertainment circuit, then no problem with having other agents host an open house at my listing.
But, being on the entertainment circuit has never been accepted by a home owner as proper criteria requiring them to vacate their home.
That means the hosting agent must know how to execute the proper strategy for the goal intended. That requirement reduces to pool of qualified agents to zero.
I have not found a qualified agent to host an open house. I've yet to hear another agent make reference to a open house strategy.

An open house not always sells the home but does attract new clients. I onlly have agents working directly under me do them for me once they know the home as good as i do

Yes, Open houses are great opportunities to pick up new buyers, so it's good to give Agents an open house to help their business that may be low.

Yes, sometimes. I also hold open houses for colleagues sometimes.

I don't recall the last time I ever held an open house, but i have my own team of agents who are always ready to hold homes open for me. If I have too many listings, I also have almost 1000 agents at my company to call. I could hold 20 open houses every Sunday if I had enough listings, and sometimes I do.

I always hold the first weekend open myself--I want to assess the response, hear the comments, see where visitors' attention is directed. I don't represent buyers, but refer them out. Subsequent weekends I occasionally have another Realtor hold a listing open.

Yes, I do it all the time. Especially since I hate to sit open houses.

It's fairly common in this area to have other agents, from the same brokerage, host an open house. I just want to get it sold.

I have not held an Open House in 10 years. I won't say that I never will again but I hope not.

We rarely do them anymore and in the past, if we were too busy, we would ask another Realtor from our Company to host it. But, we always request there are 2 of them for safety sake...

I've put another agent in charge of an open house for me in the past, but I doubt I'd do that again. I wasn't exactly delighted with the results.

sure because some of my listings are not great for picking up buyers or take longer than a weekend to sell

Good morning Gita. A number of my Realtor referral partners have newer agents do open houses for them, but they always seem to be complaining about it.

I don't do enough Opens to worry about it, but occasioanlly another agent will host the open.

Hi Gita -- listings are a premium in our extreme sellers market and I prefer to host my own Open House Events. I have the relationship with the sellers. I have the commitment and the primary goal of selling that house. I know more about that home's features.
Most "hosting" agents' goal is understandably to find potential buyers and not necessarily for that particular home. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that for them but not when it's my listing.
If the listing agent is unable to hold his/her own open house, I would suggest they ask permission of the sellers that someone else will be holding their home open. Many likely will have no issue but it's probably best to make sure.

Frequently. If a seller wants open houses, then I usually have other agents do them if my business partner or I am unavailable.

Susan, I agree it is a good idea to have others do an open house if you can't do it.

Gita, my wife and I sell as a team so it works quite well and we do not need extra help.

As I don't do open houses, it's really not an issue for me at all. But if I were to do one, I'd sit it myself.
