Hi Rob D. Shepherd - I guess your answer is a definite NO!
Hi Roy Kelley - I had one last month and got 24 groups coming through but my 1-4 ended up being 1-5:15 pm so I was picking up my signs in the dark.
Hi Sandy Padula & Norm Padula, JD, GRI - I agree but once in a while a seller will ask me what day I am having the open house. Then I schedule one asap.

Hi Inna Ivchenko - I never do other agent's open houses but I did when I was new.
Hi Spirit Messingham - I rarely do a holiday open house anyway and never on Christmas or Easter. I do like to do 4th of July ones and put flags out front.

I have found that open houses during the week are more productive. Someone in the office do one during the week and they said some people that came through said they were so happy to see an open house during the week so they didnt have to burn up a weekend viewing them. Especially the people on vacation.

Kristin, we do not hold open houses on holidays or on Purdue University home football game days in the Fall.

I DO NOT.
However, big sports days that others suggest should be avoided, have proven to be incredibly benefical.

Never. I would never even schedule one for an assistant as I believe in time off

I don't hold them in general, but on a holiday, absolutely not. Sellers deserve "time off," I deserve "time off," and buyers are typically also focused on holiday events.

Good morning Kristin. I rarely see open houses on holiday weekends. I think everybody needs to have at least one day off. And with so many people being out of town it makes having an open house pointless.

I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day with the ones you love. I would not hold an open house on a holiday.

It depends on the holiday. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter.....NO
Mothers Day, Memorial weekend, Independance day, labor day weekend are all good days for open houses.

Hi William Feela - I used to do one a week but not much anymore.
Hi Barbara Todaro - Yes I never do Christmas or Easter but maybe another holiday if I am not having a lot of exposure.
Hi Suzanne Cutler - If I have to have one, I try for Saturday except in one city of my area where the Sabbouth is Saturday so there I do Sundays instead.
Hi James Dray - Well if it works for you, I am glad you do not need to do them.

Hi Annette Lawrence - I have heard sport days can be very big at open houses.
Hi Russ Ravary ~ Metro Detroit Realtor call (248) 310-6239 - The broker I used to work with was really big on open houses.
Hi Nina Hollander - It is good for sellers to have a day off from showing the house and having to leave for the showings and open houses. I remember when I sold mine, I was exhusted trying to clean up and leave in a 10 minute period.
Hi Michael Thornton - Yes that makes a lot of sense. New profile picture..nice.

Hi Cindy Davis - It is hard to have any time off if you do open houses on the weekends.
Hi Ben DeHaven - Glad to know you like open houses as I do too.
Hi John McCormack - That is amazing and you are very successful so maybe they are not that important?
Hi Bruce Walter - I have heard that big sports games can be big but not if you are watching the game. I once did one on Super Bowl Sunday and have quite a few.

No. I have found better results picking a non-holiday weekend. I need to learn to not WORK on holidays too :)

Holiday open houses are not usually effective in our market. Your time may be better spent with buyer prospects.

No. And I think the general public respects us more for it. Time for family time, not for the almighty dollar.
