A  number of agents have referred clients to me without asking for referral fees. 

A local Agent gave me a great referral without charging me a referral fee.

I have had a couple tell their broker the kind of service they encountered when working with me.  Which leads to a phone call and recruitment speech, but hey, who doesn't enjoy getting asked out to prom???

Email me every week asking about how I was doing when I was in cancer treatment in Houston in 2008. Funny thing, I didn't think that she like me much. Shows how sometimes our perceptions of other peoples attitude towards us is shaped by our own insecurits.

My first managing broker took me under her wing and showed me the ropes. She was my mentor. We were just friends but I kept on getting accused of receiving special treatment. We became so close that we went out to dinner multiple times (spouses included). I learned so much and this woman had been in the business since the late 70's.

Referring me - and very high opinion about me! I was 'flattered'!
