I definitely would provided the tool was still in decent shape. I have purchased used combo lock boxes in eBay. Why pay full price for an lock box to hold keys when you can pay less for a slightly used lock box that performs just as well? A client has never said to me "is that a used lock box you are using"?

Selling brand new marketing material is lucrative. Most associations do not want to look like a Goodwill stores.   Those you purchase from the retirees and do they go fast !

Hi Debbie - that makes sense.

I have bought Supra lockboxes from agents who have left the business.  There was a letter from the agent letting the board know of the sale so it could be assigned to me.

I'm not sure there would be anything else that would be of use to me.

I usually buy used boxes from agents who are leaving the business. We just went to the new style I-boxes so I should be in good shape fo a while..

Debbie, our association has a store for sign riders and the like and I do buy from there.  I think the idea of a consigment area is great.

Yes and I have before.  We have that with our association and I usually ask if they have any used ones first, before I purchase the new ones.  Usually they run about $25 less each, which adds up fast when you are buying several.

I own 8 used lockboxes. Never have owned a new one. Why pay $120.00 each when used they average $20-#$30.00 per box? My signs are custom made though, so those I've never bought used as I'm big into branding myself in a neighborhood, so no generic signs ever.

I have so many used lockboxes that I don't use and it could save new agents money. I have a lot of stock sign riders that I bought too many of. I feel like this could be a profit center for our Board too. Of course certain parameters would apply, clean, good condition items that still work, etc.

Ours does too, and yes I would.  In fact, I have several used lockboxes I bought from agents that retired over the years (they work the same as brand new!).

Lockboxes are relatively cheap but some agents sell them when they go inactive.  Often, they've had very little use and are a good bargain.  Signs? I prefer a new one.

Debbie, I like this idea!  Yes we would buy gently used lockboxes, and it would be convenient to use as our board office is centrally located.

Absolutely.  We also have a store and our office has an intranet where people are selling their signs and lock boxes all the time. They go like "hot cakes".

Not signs (I like them to be as clean and new as possible), but lockboxes for sure, provided they were relatively clean and in good working order.

We had a small "store" also Debbie Reynolds. With free coffee and a couple of comfortable chairs nearby I always gave it a once over to check their wares. A REALTOR consignment or discount store makes sense with all of the people coming and going as they do.
