I feel it is a little bit distant than the other social media such as Facebook and LinkedIn. But it is a good form of advertising for folks to know that we are in Real Estate. I have not tried it yet. But if I start doing it, I will include my SOI (Sphere of Influence).

Twr is close to here. Our technologist (Silicon Valley) suggested we use it. It turns out to be a waste of time. Several agents promote themselves. I know no agent here is successful capturing a client. Sorry

I use Twitter on occasion and for several years, and have never received any business.

I'm on it, my blogs go on, a number of followers, but can't trace any business, but that probably has some thing to do with the effort I put into it.

Marie, have never used Twitter, so will be interested to see what success agents who use it have had.

I haven't dipped my toes into the Twitter pool, but I'll probably give in at some point.

In my opinion it's all phooie. In our resort market people use Realtor.com or the like. In a bedroom community probably the same or word of mouth or newspaper, possibly. Internet leads are just like trying to find a job through the internet. Have you ever heard of anyone at all who got a job through the internet?

I have yet to understand why Twitter even exists and why it is so popular.

I have. All part of my Social Media daily activities. It helps in the SEO general juice and people do search it. If you use #tags properly it is a fantastic tool.

I think your success with Twitter will depend on the age of your clientele...
Here on the Outer Banks of NC, most of our buyers and sellers live out of state. They are typically buying a second home or an investment property, thus, there are few young people in our market. Many of our sellers are even older - as they have already enjoyed the beach for many years, but now because the family has spread out, or due to the death of a spouse, it no longer seems wise to pay the carrying costs on a home that they no longer use...
Few of my clients use many forms of social media. Facebook appears to be the most popular, a few use LinkedIn, but only a handful have ever told me that they are on Twitter.
