From an Associate's perspective it could be an education but from the Broker's persspective, if you have fear that it may be successful, there's work to be done.

It happens. I don't have the time or energy for the stress or drama.

Happens all the time. Sometimes they're just very excited to be a part of something different, other times, as Jill Murty, Realtor - Serving Orange County, CA says, there's a recruitment bonus.

When agents have left and then try to recruit me, there's usually something in it for the agent. I don't think much of it because it reflects poorly on the agent.
I think Kevin J. May makes a good point looking at it from the broker perspective.

It's done here all the time. I just tried to recruit a friend of mine. I get $25 off monthly office fees with everyone I bring in. A good broker does the same thing.

Richard, it happens. If people are looking for a better opportunity there is nothing to stop it. If several good agents leave a brokerage the broker better take a hard look at how the office is being run.

Richard Weeks - I guess we live in a free country! And agents leaving a brokerage is not uncommon, either.
They'll try to recruit someone who they were close while at previous brokerage, nothing wrong in it either.

We have seen it done. I don't have problem with an agent trying to better themselves. I just hope it works for them. If they stayed, their heart wouldn't be in it and they would not benefit the brokerage.

That happens with lots of different businesses. One agent that left out office kept asking me to join his team. I didn't like the team idea or the company he was moving to. I don't think anything negativa about him. He just thought it would be a good move for both of us, so he asked.

Richard Weeks This is ultimately going to happen. Not uncommon for an agent to leave and take another agent or two with them.

A smart business person if they believe the agents would be of service. We are independent contractors, fee to jump ship whenever we want. I have been with the same brokerage since I got my license 8 years ago, I believe in loyality. Not all do, and that is a choice made by some.

I see it happen all the time. I think it's just part of the way that some agents and brokerages operate.

No different when an employee leaves the private sector and tries to recruit others. Happens all the time. Sometimes that works for people...the happier a person is the better reflection on a company. If an agent is miserable, let them go....and whoever follows. As Kevn J. May stated, there may be work to be done by the Broker losing agents...

That is the wrong question.
The right question is, 'Why did they leave?"
The answer to that determines if their recruiting is anything of concern.
If the broker has been unconcerned regarding the welfare of the agents, and treated the ex-like most brokers do, (creating every barrier possible and doing all within power to keep/put them out of business) this IS what the broker should expect.
It a bold action that can happen and a broker would be wise to keep the agents profitable and loyal. The broker just might find out all those smiley faces can be deceptive.

I'm impressed that that agent is willing to share something they believe in. Why not?

I had this happen to me as 3 agents left KW and then I get a call asking me to defect. I said no I am happy were I am at. I am pretty positive that the indepent contract they signed does not allow them to recruit other agents from their old office.
