Debbie,

I also think that there are less posts. I think all the changes and confusion around them, has made many of us nuts.  I still can't find people I follow, and I have to search for them most of the time.  LOL A

the energy that once was so plentiful is now missing on this platform.... the changes and screw ups are uncalled for....everything was working... everything made sense....now we don't have the people visible who we want to leave comments for...only those they select.... I subscribe to over 300 people.... I spend time commenting...no longer....

I've found that many people are commenting on Facebook instead.  If I post my blog to FB, it cuts down on my AR comments immensely!   Also, with the introduction of the Q & A section, I get many more comments here these days.

Yes!

Some of it is that participation is way down - blogging and commenting - as people are so busy.

Part of it all the changes they've made w/ home page and follow list (so we miss a lot of bloggers and features get less attention).  Now in turn, there may be a redistribution of some of the comments.

And, some of it is the Q&A section which diverts comments and time there.

Many of the people we were seeing a year ago are no longer active. ActiveRain has a serious membership retention issue.

The low number of comments is discouraging and many of us are planning to reduce our blogging and our commenting.

Debbie - Well I wasn't actively on AR a year ago so I wouldn't know. What I have seen since coming back to AR, after being gone for several years, is that a lot of the original leaders of this community are gone. With that said, there still are amazing people here who post and comment on a very consistent basis.

Do you think Debbie Reynolds  it may be some from the 'buyouts' where AR is owned by the big Z? another may be that the market has picked up so much that people do not have time to blog or comment?

Hi Debbie --  Endre Barath, Jr.Ron and Alexandra Seigel and I had this conversation yesterday at our MeetUp.   Some of the AR changes that have taken place as well as business are certainly having an impact on comments and general interaction.

Of course, I understand that things change but the social aspect that combined with the obvious business advantages of this forum made it unique -- I think some of that is gone -- at least for now -- I do hope it returns -- and better than ever.

Yes commenting is down but the market has picked up in many markets and agents are busy with selling or listing Real Estate. All the changes are confusing and frustrating..don't have a lot of time to post and comment so not the best change to change something that wasn't broken!!

If you read Bill Spear's post that is featured today on "where did my bloggers go" it explains a lot.  Much more difficult to find people you follow and some are not going to the trouble.  Hopefully AR will get the issue fixed.

Debbie Reynolds I just think that like Network news vs Cable TV or going to a movie theater vs renting it on Apple TV and watching it in your own home theater so goes it on social media, blogging, websites, etc.

There's just so many options and choices nowadays for folks to choose from and platforms like FB, Twitter, Instagram and even You Tube to make it much more challenging for sites like AR to stay ahead of the game.

Frankly I've always thought of AR as more of a RE social media NETWORKING site than a general open to the public forum.  But this is really a good thing I think. This intimate group of folks have established years of cyber friendships and have developed a loyalty and trust rarely seen on most social media sites..................just sayin.

Yes you Debbie Gartner and the others have nailed it. These are busy times but frankly there have been busy times before. I think in many ways it has been difficult to navigate the site and people just don't enjoy it like they used to. There is much less emphasis on blogs and more on Q&A.

Debbie, I don't think I have noticed any difference.  The people who always reciprocate comments still do so and those who never did continue not to comment back on your blog.

I have noticed a big change in the increased number of people subscribing to blogs since last summer-perhaps that is the result of AR making a permanent change of allowing 20 comments as bloggers are looking for more people to comment on?

It just seems like there are endless robo posts and fewer posts to comment on with content-that difference I have noticed.

I think the Q&A sections attracts more comments now because the questions are so much shorter than blogs and most readers find that more appealing than reading through longer postings.

Debbie as you know we stopped commenting and changed our blog to disabled comments because of time restraints and also saying the same thing about everyone's blog.  Some were great and others were just ok but commented pretty much the same.

I find that I spend  a lot more time answering and asking Questions in the Q&A forum, and not nearly as much time as I used to on posts or commenting or even reading them, however when I do post I still seem to get a good number of clicks, and I know people are reading, so I am not too concerned with comments left
