In the Las Vegas market, buyer's agents schedule showings directly with the occupant or listing agent depending on the instructions in the MLS. If an agent wants to show a property bad enough, they'll find a way whether or not there's someone to schedule an appointment. Let the staff enjoy the weekend and come back energized for summer.

Hi Debbie -- was it announced prior to Saturday's closing?  If not, I would think a discussion should take place.  If it was discussed - you should have adapted.   

That's the reason why many agents even in offices with receptionists choose a showing service or have selling agents contact the listing agent or seller directly. With proper planning, it doesn't have to be a disaster.    

For me -- I want any communication with a seller to come from me so I want to coordinate showings for my listings.

Agents can temporarily change the MLS listing to have calls come to them over the holiday weekend.  It does not seem unreasonable for paid staff to get a holiday off work.  The one/two day inconvenience is not such a big deal.

We use a national showing service which works virtually 24/7 so it's not an issue for us. Our office is open only until 5pm and not on weekends, ever. As we are in an office building we really don't get walk-in traffic. But in your case, I'd probably not complain but offer suggestions for future such weekends on how to staff the office.

When the public is off, is when we are the busiest. I use a showing service as well as a receptionist. I worked a full day yesterday, working just this morning and am taking the afternoon and evening off. But come Monday, ill be back ready to sell.

That doesn't sound like a good system. Most agents here have their cell# and home# listed with MRIS, and also have their Cell# on yard signs.

Our market center uses third party services for scheduling - so it is working fine.

If that's what the broker has decided, I don't know if you want to complain about it.

I think maybe a showing service may be in order if this happens again. I almost missed 4 showings on my listings and that is not good for my sellers.

As a small broker we have everyone on a Google number that rings us all, that way we don't miss calls. I would gauge my answer on what the broker charges me in that situation. Does the value proposition of that brokerage require a receptionist?

In our market, most of the agents use a showing service and do not rely on office assistance to schedule appointments.

You complaint would probably fall on deaf hears.  We use a company (Centralized Showing Service) who schedules all our showings.  I would change instructions in mls for the agent to call me for a showing.
