If they buyer asks, the we will ask the seller.  Sometimes they agree and other times it is more difficult, or they never get around to getting it.  I don't agree to it.  I tell them that I will check with the seller and see if I can get it for them.  That way, it doesn't put me on the spot, if I can't get it.

Raoul - I would certainly ask the sellers for this information, and try to accommodate any request from the buyer.

Many Buyers ask for this information so I just fill out my own form and upload it into the MLS under Associated Documents.

I also provide the information and most sellers will gladly give it. On the flip side a buyer has a right to ask and even our electric department will give them the data.

It is a given up here.  We want to see all the energy costs for the home because it is no longer "Can you afford to BUY the home, but can you afford to LIVE in the home"?   The difference in energy costs between two similar homes can be the deciding factor for some Buyers.

Of course I do explain that we don't all live the same way.  Some want the heat cranked up others want the air conditioning blasting.  Some will have a family of 5 taking 3 showers a day each . . .

Our utility bills show the activity of the last 12 months on it, so all you would have to do is show recent bill and that would give them the info they want.  I don't see anything wrong with it.

It's not up to me to provide it, but I would share the request with the seller. I think 12 months is a lot to ask for...more commonly, buyers will ask for rough estimates.

Definitely.  I designed and built a home years ago with energy saving in mind.

I tell the solar hawkers how much I spend a year on utilties. I did the last house sold and buyers are impressed.

I never had such request. Some buyers do ask about 'average' utilities expenses. It is up to your seller: to agree or not. Btw, in my area, the utility bill usually show average use through the year for that specific account. So one month is more than enough to get an idea. But what will happen if a new homeowner is using A/C 24/7 and a previous owner never turned it on?

I'm not sure what not providing this information would accomplish. An interested buyer wants to know the operating costs of a home... and I've never had a seller refuse to provide information when asked by a serious prospective buyer.
