I usually do it when I first meet people, as is customary in the corporate world.  I may refer to it prior to leaving, noting that they can contact me via the numbers on the card (sort of a reminder of having been given it earlier).

Just like I did in the corporate world, right at the beginning. It is considered a formal introduction, signifying that we are here to do business.

After I shake hands I give the person my card. If you do not know them and it is the beginning of a business relationship I always felt this to be the proper etiquette.

I give them a business card immediately.  That way if they forget my name, they are not embarrassed.  They have a reference to go to.

I always give my card at the beginning of the meeting esp as I am going to their home. It's the professional thing to do, and my customers seem to appreciate it.  It's purple, so I guess it stands out a bit.

Good morning Debbie. It depends on when the right opportunity presents itself. I ask them to read the back of my card, that had my message. After reading it, they turn it over, which is also what I want.

It depends. Exchanging business cards is a formality. What we do with them and where we file them is another matter. There are some that are filed in the circular filing cabinet soon after the meeting.

I usually give my card the moment I meet a person( if it is a scheduled meeting) and in all other situations depends if they want to know more about me, I'll give my card when I'm leaving, or during the b.c. exchange.

Now don't ask me what I!

I give them out pretty quickly, otherwise there's a good chance I will forget. But most times when I first meet with a new client or prospect, I've already mailed them a handwritten note with a couple of cards in it.

If I have a card I would give it in the beginning. Usually I have to pull out my wallet and check whats inside to find my cards. I usually run out of my cards because I post them on the wall at my local grocery store.

Although I have business cards, handing them to prospects is a distraction to what the real goal is. The real goal it to get into their cell phone directory.

"Let me send "that" to you now, what's your number?"

It doesn't matter.  It's going to get tossed out anyway.  No one keeps business cards unless it's to the mechanics and they need to number in the glove box.  LOL

Depends on the situation.

For B2B meetings I hand it out first, as others have mentioned it is the corporate norm. However for when I work with clients in real estate, I will usually do it towards the end as it is more of a business to consumer work and you will be with them for a few hours anyway.

I do it at the end and actually it's stapled into the folder they receive from us so they have to throw the whole thing away and not just the card, lol.
