This is just the kind of post I am looking for to get feedback and perspective. I have been considering to hire a Real Estate Coach for about 2 months now & about ready to commit, with Buffini. When speaking with their office I was told Coaches carry 70 to 80 clients per month and speak with you for 30 min every 2 weeks. So now I am questioning how well is this Coach going to know me and dedicate to helping me. The coach would be a 3 hour time difference away so in my mind the coach will not be aware of challenges in my local market and such. I am doing well in my business however want to take it to Rock Star Levels. Feeling unsure ....

I have a strong opinion about this. Hiring a real estate coach is like joining weight watchers or hiring a personal trainer. If you can't do it yourself, then you should hire someone to help you and motivate you to do it.

There is nothing new under the sun that these Coaches can share! There is nothing that can't be found in a book or online if you don't happen to have a mentor available. There is one very popular one that has 'borrowed' all his ideas from Mary Kay Ash - the makeup magnet that she put in play back in the '60s
I really dislike these "cottage industries" that make a buck off a Realtor's back.

Never and nothing. Sorry to be a party pooper.
A real estate coach may be terrific, but it rubs me the wrong way. When brokerage recruiters call and tell me that coaching is included, I'm even less interested.

I hired mine 17 years ago and I was 5 months into my career.
I would pay what they charge if I felt they'd get me multiple times their fee in results.

Hi Nancy, I hope you and your business are doing well! I have been in your shoes with the same question with my real estate business. Just a little back ground on me I sell real estate in the wealthiest city per capita in the United States. I have had my license here going on 17 years. With that said, I have seen a lot of agents come and go over the years and 1 thing that I have noticed over the years is the ones that have a coach or uses a coaching program stay in the business and usally do more business than other new agents. I have used a few coaches myself and found that it increased my business more than it cost me. 1 thing I will say when looking at a coach, I would recommend finding a coach that has had or still has a successful real estate business. Also to the people out there that say you "know" everything a coach could teach you then we all should sit under you and learn. I believe we all need to stay teachable in all things we do. I hope you have many years and a very successful real estate business.

Nancy Robinson I think you would be better off finding a good mentor. You need someone to help you keep accountable for your business. A brokerage with a good mentoring program should not cost you anything.

No one succeeds alone. I do have a real estate coach. You are asking the wrong question. A good coach will make you money. They will find flaws in your business plan, financial plan and the way you conduct business. If you feel you cannot afford a coach, something is wrong with your business and you most likely cannot afford them.

I've never liked having someone tell me how I should do my job. Have always learned "under fire", put my own twist to it, and have come this far in my life. Now is not the time to change.

Nancy Robinson - sooner the better! Do not wait for that limit of 20 transactions a year or so. Coaching should help you reach your goal sooner and perhaps double your goals year after year.
I have Buffini and Company coach and I just love it! And I think one can easily afford it. The coaching members of Brian Buffini makes 8 times more income as compared to national average!

When I have lost focus and can't kick my own butt into getting back on track. Then if you choose the RIGHT coach for you it would be priceless.

I dont think that I ever would, it seems like a lot of money to pay to have someone tell me something that I probably alreadyknow that I should be doing.

Coaches need to do more than be motivational speakers these days. They can be worth the money if they keep up with technology, and provide ways to use that technology to help your business. Organizational skills are available everywhere. The main thing i hate about coaching companies is they always have some seminars across the country, want to charge $700.00 to $1700.00 for you to attend what is basically an introductory seminar. Then want to find ways to get agents to sign up for monthly fees for various services. ThesE seminars are usually 3 days, plus you have to pay for travel and hotel. Most agents can't go to those even if they could afford them. They can't be away from their businesses that long, and if they have kids and/or pets, it's even more difficult for them to attend. I haven't seen any proof from any coach that has convinced me it's worth my time and money to attend one of their seminars. I don't know what I would be willing to pay until after they lay all their cards on the table face up so I know what I'm paying for.

If I was a new agent or an agent that wanted to go to the next level I would hire one and pay for it. Many of us don't take it serious unless it costs us.

Ferry charges $400/hr telling you things you already know. Spending $20K is way too much. You can watch his tape on youtube. I am with Jill Murty 100%.
We don't need coach or training. Give me a few leads I will turn into closing.

every office should have seasoned agents to mentor....or broker/owner/managers to mentor.... the only trainer that any real estate agent should be hiring is a trainer at the gym!!!

I hired one years ago, Mike Ferry, spent over $20,000. It's great for some people, not me. I just can not do cold calling and thats what Mike teaches.

If you respond well to coaching, it can be very effective.
The well know coaches will provide a fee schedule.
