Builders are building smaller in our area - more return on investment! I am seeing that buyers still want as big as they can get for the money.

In my area the buitlders are building larger homes & townhomes. They are using more efficient building materials so it is reducing the cost of running a home. I had a client who was looking for a smaller home to use 3 months out of the year. I was struggling to find a home or townhome less than 2,200 sq ft.

In Northern Virginia we seeing getting smaller or mid size. Estate homes are being constructed but mass majority of buyers prefer mid size homes. Especially with low maintenance.

Definitely seems smaller. Getting back to what it was in the 60's and 70's... IDK...

When the economy is good and the market is hot, homes tend to get bigger. When we get into a tough market and the economy is shaky, homes tend to be smaller.
