absolutely, not....I've owned 23 units over the years and never have I listed any of them for sale with me as the listing agent.... my last home was listed with lorraine and I paid a full commission.... E&O does not cover a property that is listed by the owner, but even if that were not the case, I don't want to talk to any buyer or negotiate directly with any buyer.... and I knew what every property was worth (give or take a buck) but I had the listing agent show me her market analysis with explanations.... it reinforced what my thoughts were.....sorry for rambling!!

No. I would use a trusted real estate professional for the listing.

I have listed two of my own homes over the years, but listening to a very good real estate attorney, it probably is wiser to have a colleague list it for you.

If it was in the area i work, list and sell of course. I have learned long ago to seperate business from emotion which is needed to sell your own property. If it was out of market, say a different state, i would choose the best agent most like me to do it in that area.

I have many times and will continue to do so. Never had an issue. I have to practice what I preach so if I tell a Seller to look at the facts and comps I do the same.
Provided you disclose and the buyer has an option of working with a Buyer Rep where's the issue?

I would. But I would properly prepare it for sale and carefully check the comps.

Martin Kalisker - not sure about others, I'd do it for my home for sure! And why not?
If I can't trust myself in selling my home, how can others trust me?

Yes, I would. Though I would ask for assistance from my office partners.

Yes, I have before. I sold my own home, ended up working both sides. A lot of disclosing going on. If I were to sell my own home, or rentals I would put a sign up and list it, just like I encourage my clients to do when they work with me.

I keep and rent out my former homes. However, I did sell one once in SF,CA while living here in San Diego and I hired a former associate to list, market, stage & negotiate it. I was happy to not have the distraction and felt the commission was earned and money well spent for peace of mind. My associate actually gave me advice my emotions were in need of, so it was a valuable experience to "be a seller". It gave me great perspective and improved my own seller services, now knowing what they go through first hand. (I do believe I'd still list my own if it was local though).

Absolutely! I have done it before, and will do it again. I have been advised not to represent the buyer for one of these sales, though.

Martin Kalisker If it were an investment property, I would list it. If I lived in it, I would probably refer it out.

No, I would refer it to an agent in my office. It is not possible to be fully objective is you are a principal in the transaction. I tried it once. When the contract came in, I had to let one of my realtor friends look at the offer. I said to her, "If I were your seller and you got this offer would you advise me to take it?". That way I got a truly objective answer.
